Account Executive Workers Comp - Multiple Locations

Responsible for broker/consultant sales of UMR products to Self funded customers in worker’ compensation and ancillary self funded absence management products. This role encompasses direct accountability for new sales of workers’ compensation and related products.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible to achieve assigned sales results for workers compensation and related products to self funded employers.  This includes:
    • Educating and keeping brokers up to date on UMR Risk Management  products and pricing
    • Evaluating and discussing with brokers how UMR Risk Management products meet the needs of the brokers' customers
    • Independently developing and delivering recommendations to brokers on which products to market against competing products
    • Assisting brokers in developing sales proposals, including anticipating competing products and distinguishing UMR's products from those competing products
  • Complete RFP (Request for Proposal) and manage the RFP process
  • Develop direct leads for potential prospects and build up a pipeline of those direct opportunities
  • Maintain UMR product knowledge
  • Present a positive image of UMR in the marketplace
  • Community involvement through professional organizations, associations and local organizations
  • Understand goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of UMR
  • Understand workers’ compensation and risk management operations and strategies
  • Understand financing methodologies and strategies  for self funding workers compensation, disability and Paid Family Leave)
  • Thorough knowledge of property casualty underwriting principles and practices for potential “back office” services with insurance carriers through outsourced claims handling


Required Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years workers’ compensation marketplace and product knowledge
  • 3-5 years account management or sales experience
  • Ability to work independently to establish and grow relationships in the broker community for Risk Management market for the assigned geographic area
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales promotion/marketing skills
  • Ability to understand underwriting, financial and analytical details as necessary
  • Well organized with excellent computer skills
  • Sales insurance license(s) maintained by law
  • Ability to travel in assigned territory 50 percent of the time
  • Maintains valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of insurance sales/account management experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelors degree preferred
