Description

The Accountant 2 performs accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and reviews financial statements related to purchases, accruals, and other general ledger accounts. The Accountant 2 also conducts or assists in projects to improve the quality of the financial statements. The Accountant 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action, while adhering to deadlines. The Accountant 2 should be able to successfully operate in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

The Accountant 2 prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the  integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and policies. Provides financial support, including analyzing variations from previous time periods and variances from budget and projections.

Reconciles and analyzes statutory accounts, using reports and analytical tools. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Works with business partners to resolve reconciling items, including participating in process improvement initiatives.

Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures, maintains strong attention to detail, and adheres to deadlines.

               

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 2- 5 years of accounting experience
  • Experience with accruals and reconciliations
  • Experience with vendor management, including purchase analysis
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office programs
  • Effective communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in corporate accounting enviroment
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Master's Degree in Accounting or Master's Degree in Business Administration
