Description

The Application Architect designs and develops IT applications architecture solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards. The Senior Application Architect work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Responsibilities

The Application Architect performs technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications. Develops specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings. Assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent applications. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

               

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • 7+ experience as a senior developer in large IT projects
  • Experience working on/with microservice architectures, web services, ReST APIs, API Gateways, relational and NoSQL stores and loosely coupled messaging
  • Prior project architect and/or team lead experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certification is strongly preferred
  • A track record of success developing and deploying creative technical solutions to business problems for or within large enterprise organizations
  • Experience with the design and development of cloud-native, secure, distributed applications
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting and configuration management
  • Working knowledge of designing high availability systems in the cloud (fault domains, availability zones, deployment slots, regions)
  • Experience using Source Control (GIt, TFVC, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Cloud Database fundamentals (Azure SQL, RDS, DynamoDB, CosmosDB, MongoDB)
  • Experience working in an agile continuous delivery  workflow & team (Kanban)
  • Experience communicating  technical complexity and change to a broad spectrum of stakeholders
  • Experience with technical writing and documentation
