The vision and roadmap should meet customer requirements, operational needs and business goals.   The focus of product initiatives will be on expansion of the application across different business segments across the UHG enterprise.  The product manager is responsible for the coordination and completion of application initiatives within UnitedHealthcare Enterprise Correspondence involving multi-functional areas with potentially significant financial and regulatory impacts. The Product Manager will provide subject matter expertise in areas including project management, project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, facilitation, and other areas of expertise based on professional knowledge and background.  The successful candidate will ensure the initiatives are completed on time, within scope and budget; presents regular project updates and expected results to the senior management team. This position will work in a matrix environment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • The product manager is responsible for the vision, roadmap, and ongoing management of the assigned Enterprise Correspondence product (i.e. application)
  • Developing and communicating the product strategy, product vision, and roadmap
  • Defines acceptance criteria for the Product and associated Capabilities
  • Serve as a primary resource and subject matter expert related to the assigned Enterprise Correspondence product (i.e., application) and identify, approve process changes impacting the product (s)
  • Understand the product's business model including its value proposition and the desired business benefits
  • Utilize Agile Methodology processes
  • Collaborate closely with the Agile team (e.g., Business Analyst, Development Team, SCRUM Master, SMEs)
  • Describe the desired user experience and the product features, and capture them on the backlog (responsible for feature backlog, product backlog, grooming features, grooming stories, acceptance of features, acceptance of stories, identifying key stakeholders)
  • Attends product demo and scrum meetings as needed
  • Manages various meetings (including kickoff meetings, requirements gathering meetings, weekly program status meetings, regular agency meetings, etc.)
  • Attends and assists in facilitating the daily product manager meeting call to review all project deliverable
  • Assist in process flow mapping, budgeting, project progress, product launch
  • Manages project plans, dashboards and open issues/action items for the product (i.e., the UnitedHealthc
  • Enterprise Interactive application)
  • Monitor issues and develop contingency or mitigation plans
  • Oversees various deliverables and timelines to ensure appropriate internal routing and approvals
  • Ensures appropriate individuals from each business area are engaged across appropriate stakeholder audiences
  • Collaborates with business leaders and project teams to identify, document, review, communicate and implement relevant business/operations change management procedures as needed to support evolving business needs
  • Assists with User Acceptance Testing / Post Acceptance Testing that occur during regular business hours and outside business hours (late evenings/early mornings and weekends when necessary)
  • Acts as the approval point for all business requirements, acceptance testing, deployment planning, and deployment verification steps for the Product (i.e., application)
  • Acts as a liaison for ensuing that the appropriate testing resources are available for requested work
  • Owns the application end-user access process
  • Ensures the application accesses are maintained properly by security administration staff
  • Executes the annual end-user entitlement reviews for the application
  • Overall accountability for business Sarbanes-Oxley compliance (application access, security administration, requirements, testing and deployment)
  • Facilitates IT timelines of Operating & Maintenance releases
  • Manages change control process
  • Takes charge of ad hoc projects assigned
  • Manages project budgets, SOWs/invoices, value realization
  • Manages direct reports, composition analysts

Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS or equivalent education and experience
  • 1+ years working within an agile delivery methodology 

  • 2+ years of direct application product ownership experience

  • 5+ years of experience in project management to include release management and change control

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, organize and prioritize work, ensure quality and adherence to business process and compliance standards

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Project

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of print, fulfillment, and/or vendor management experience AND/OR  1+ years with print/document composition tools
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships and must possess strong interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to drive programs/projects and be self-directed and motivated

  • Identifies as well as resolves issues and roadblocks inhibiting completion of milestones

  • Demonstrated history in navigating cross functional/cross segment, enterprise groups and possess high tolerance to stress and the ability to handle difficult situations in a confident and diplomatic manner within a large matrix organization

  • Provided leadership, organization and methodology to a multi-functional project team

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Project Management certification 
  • Knowledge of healthcare
  • Previous general management experience
