THE OPPORTUNITY

The Art Director is a senior member of the Integrated Marketing team and oversees the creative design for Scholastic Education branding and marketing materials. The Art Director contributes to all design and creative planning sessions, manages graphic designers and works closely with design project managers, providing the design direction needed to implement all creative projects. The position requires a wide range of general skills when working on large and small projects that require resourcefulness and collaboration with diverse teams across the company.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide design leadership and facilitate cross-departmental collaboration on creative projects and design needs
• Develop creative strategies and planning for overall brand messaging and maintain visual integrity across multi-media channels
• Ensure consistency and quality of brand collateral
• Meet with clients and stakeholders to obtain design objectives such as messaging, purpose, and key deliverables
• Write proposals and creative briefs to provide the team with creative direction and manage client expectations


HOW YOU CAN FIT

• Bachelor degree
• 5 – 8 Years
• Ability to lead the creative design process with an open mind to plan new, innovative, and interesting ways of translating ideas into reality
• Exceptional organizational and administrative skills and ability to deliver a project on time and on budget
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize personal workload and that of staff
• Excellent communication/people skills
• Strategic thinker and problem solver, with a user-focused approach to design thinking
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to provide constructive criticism, turning small ideas into larger concepts—integrating multiple forms of media for comprehensive design projects or campaigns
• Ability to coordinate a team around a conceptual direction and lead the design development from concept through completion
• Ability to work collaboratively and maintain high standards under pressure and in the face of time constraints
• Fastidious attention to detail
• Sense of humor
