The ASO Sales Specialist is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for UHC's TPA/ASO services for an assigned territory.  Working in collaboration with the UHC Commercial Acct Execs, the Sales Specialist's primary goal is to increase sales of our ASO and TPA business by providing expertise and extensive knowledge of Stop Loss, ASO and TPA products and services. 


If you are located in commutable distance to major Southern California office, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Increase revenue and membership for UnitedHealthcare's ASO/TPA business segment

  • Sell ASO/TPA products through the UHC sales channel

  • Support continuing development and expansion of UHC distribution channel and be accountable for achieving ASO/TPA sales targets in assigned territory via new business and add on sales 

  • Ability to quickly develop outstanding relationships with UHC sales team as their key partner in ASO/TPA sales

  • Ability to interface with Health Plan CEO's and Market VP’s, and present strategic solutions for the market

  • Introduce ASO/TPA offerings in each market & broker community in concert with UHC overall sales strategies and tactics

  • Expert knowledge of ASO/TPA products sold in the market and the ability to clearly differentiate product offerings

  • Raise awareness of ASO/TPA offerings within the UHC sales organization in the assigned territory

  • Develop ASO/TPA business strategies into clear objectives and tactics in each market

  • Leverage cross selling opportunities

  • Support introduction of new products into distribution channels

  • Assist in responding to Request for Proposals and other inquiries


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with TPA/Stop Loss/ASO sales through brokers required

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, develop and present strategies within healthcare benefits market

  • Adept at understanding complex concepts and situations presented by the business environment 

  • Successful sales achievement, ability to represent the organization professionally and drive desired sales growth in a profitable, repeatable manner

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS level education

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to present, write and converse effectively with multiple audiences of varying levels of sophistication
