Entry level position designed to develop existing and new provider accounts with the goal of generating referrals for OB Homecare.  With the direction of sales management, execute and implement strategies to increase market share through targeted providers.  Coordinate marketing efforts with other Optum OB Homecare resources including Sales Training, Marketing, Area Clinical Services Directors and Regional Managed Care Directors.
If you are located in St. Louis, MO, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage assigned territory, use marketing strategies and work with sales management to develop  plans utilizing available resources to effectively penetrate their assigned, physicians for all products and services to generate referrals for OB Homecare
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the development and implementation of large group and individual presentations for targeted providers that cover all aspects of the Obstetrical Home Care service sales
  • Manage patient specific reimbursement issues within established guidelines as set forth by the Reimbursement Department
  • Conduct joint calls with clinical staff to develop strong customer relations with providers
  • Follow direction given by sales management to build relationships with and communicate among Provider Based Support peers, operations, clinical, and administrative personnel to achieve common area goals and objectives
  • Complete formalized training and maintain current clinical, product, and market dynamics knowledge.  Maintain awareness of competitor's activities through review of information from the field and Corporate
  • Work with established expense guidelines to maximize return on investment
  • Conduct job functions in a manner that promotes a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Accountability / Decision Making
    • Position is often required to independently plan and prioritize marketing objectives.  Supervision available for guidance in unique or complex situations
    • Regular external contacts include physician and physicians’ office staff, medical groups, administrators and clinicians
    • At all times, the incumbent must be aware of and adhere to all federal and state laws and regulations in performing the duties of this position.  The incumbent must be aware of and adhere to the laws and regulations addressing relationships with patients, suppliers and referral sources.   The incumbent must be familiar with and adhere to Optum’s "Code of Conduct" and its Compliance Policies and Procedures

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree or job knowledge equivalent
  • 2+ years' relevant field - based experience in a healthcare or business environment
  • Demonstrated track record of success in exceeding sales objectives
  • Employment in an customer facing business environment where training occurs to develop interpersonal skill sets and that will lead to sales excellence
  • Access to reliable transportation that will enable you to travel to client and / or patient sites within a designated area
  • Willing to travel within the St Louis designated market
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
