Individual responsible for strategic and financial operations of the OptumCare wealth plans; ensures administrative processes, procedures and controls facilitate the effective implementation, management and delivery of company sponsored benefit programs (e.g., qualified retirement plans, nonqualified retirement plans, etc.). Responsible for program compliance with company policies and controls, and with the laws, regulations and rules issued or enforced by state, federal and foreign regulatory authorities on the subject of program administration, reporting, disclosures and filing requirements. Develops, executes, and supervises projects in partnership with Sr. Director Optum Care Benefits, human capital, legal, finance, accounting, payroll, communications, information technology, and other company professionals.   Primary Responsibilities:
  • Individual responsible for strategic and financial operations of the OptumCare wealth plans; ensures administrative processes, procedures and controls facilitate the effective implementation, management and delivery of company sponsored benefit programs (e.g., qualified retirement plans, non-qualified retirement plans, etc.)
  • Responsible for program compliance with company policies and controls, and with the laws, regulations and rules issued or enforced by state, Federal and foreign regulatory authorities on the subject of program administration, reporting, disclosures and filing requirements
  • Partners with Human Capital and business leaders to identify and reduce barriers to integration for existing non-integrated entities and newly acquired companies
  • Conducts cost analysis of current NIE retirement plan benefits, as well as discretionary employer contributions into core qualified and non-qualified plans post integration
  • Ensure program policies, procedures, and provisions are effective, understood and followed. Recommend changes to reduce incidence of error
  • Resolves complex program design and administrative issues. Ensures consistent application of provisions and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Escalates issues to leadership team as needed to assure prompt and accurate resolution
  • Provides direction and insight on the implementation of new plans, program features and changes to plans and/or administrative procedures
  •  Interacts with third-party vendors and internal team providing guidance and assuring appropriate levels of performance. Liaise with the payroll department in regard to program data and administration
  • Oversees the review of communication drafts for accuracy, detail and completeness. Works with business partners and human capital team members as needed to identify education and training needs. Coordinates benefit education and training initiatives
  •  Develops and evaluates program effectiveness measures to determine whether programs are 1) meeting their objectives, 2) furthering specific business outcomes and 3) complimenting the total rewards strategy. Responsible for wealth program reporting and analysis
  • Prepares documentation of change needs and assists with the review and testing of related materials and systems
  • Lead OptumCare wealth program special projects
  • Provides counseling to third-party vendors regarding provisions of existing / new benefits, policies and processes as needed
  •  Stays up-to-date on trends and developments related to wealth programs
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to thrive in a team environment with a client service focus; strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative team skills; and the ability to exercise independent judgment; Proven organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion; and strong analytical skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively and handle multiple deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent
  • 7+ years of retirement benefit plan experience including: plan sponsor, consulting, or administration experience with qualified retirement plans
  • 3+ years of plan sponsor, consulting, or administration experience with non-qualified plans
  • Experience managing outsourced benefits service providers
  • Advanced technical knowledge of administrative practices and all pertinent federal and state regulations affecting wealth programs
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools - Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a complex, matrixed, Fortune 100 organization
