Associate Software Engineer - WellMed - San Antonio, TX

The Associate Software Engineer supports applications development and automation through the design of new or modification of existing applications and systems. Write computer applications to implement planned system activities.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • With direction, analyzes and understands functions to be automated or modified, business needs, objectives, desired features, and input and output requirements

  • Analyzes, defines, and documents system requirements for data management, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment(s), and interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs

  • Creates and documents functional and technical specifications. Converts designs and specifications into computer code.  Tests and performs quality assurance activities and assists senior and lead developers ensure the delivery of quality products and services

  • Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, compatibility with other systems, and computer capabilities. Researches and evaluates existing software and hardware tools and applications to assist in programming or to use as program platforms

  • Produces detailed system, application, data flow, and other documentation. Documents and, at times, performs training for end users in the application of the designed programs

  • Monitors application performance, making any changes to maximize the performance and reliability of new and existing applications

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

 


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related, technical field (4+ years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree)

  • 1+ years of applications development experience

  • Familiar with Microsoft application development tools including one or more of the following: Visual Studio, C#, Visual Basic, Microsoft Office Applications, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Reporting and Integration Services, etc.

  • Ability to develop, implements, test, and troubleshoot complex software applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry background

  • 1+ years ServiceNow experience

  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees

  • Ability to generate and test program code using Microsoft technologies and toolsets in a complex technical environment

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as computer coding and statistical inference

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists

  • Ability to effectively work with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise
