Overview

This is a full-time year round position working at the Grand Canyon Railway Locomotive Facility in Williams, AZ. The shop Manager assists in the oversight of the Electrical/ HVAC  locomotive and passenger car repair operations and provides input for budgeting, personnel and engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Understands, owns, and practices Xanterra Parks & Resorts and Grand Canyon Railway Mission statement and Core Values.
  • Comply, enforce and follow up on Company Environmental program to ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials, recycle program and education of staff.
  • Under direction of the Electrical/HVAC Shop Manager supervises the inspection, maintenance and repair of railcars and locomotives in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Under direction of the Electrical/HVAC Shop Manager schedules repairs for equipment and machinery to ensure equipment maintains optimum reliability.
  • Under direction of the Electrical/HVAC Shop Manager, assists with preparation and conducting of job safety briefings with the employees.
  • Under direction of the Electrical/HVAC Shop Manager coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of the Elect/HVAC employees.
  • Available to work scheduled days, and be available on call during the evenings, weekends and holidays as call-outs occur.
  • Under direction of the Electrical/HVAC Shop Manager provides oversight of department operations including testing, installation and quality control.
  • Under direction of the Electrical/HVAC Shop Manager creates work orders, requisitions and purchase orders in the INFOR System.
  • Under direction of the Electrical/HVAC Shop Manager assists with completing annual evaluations of hourly personnel and counsel with Chief Mechanical Officer as needed. Complete in a timely manner.
  • Under direction of the Electrical/HVAC Shop Manager administer corrective action as necessary and counsel with Chief Mechanical Officer on corrective action for all hourly employees as needed.
  • Successfully completes, complies with, and enforces all General Code of Operating Rules and Roadway Worker Protection programs and education of staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  •  Knowledge of electrical concepts usually acquired through at least 5 years previous work related experience or formal education and training.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 year’s verifiable work experience as an industrial level Electrical/HVAC lead supervisor position.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to diagnose electrical problems using various meters and related equipment.
  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must have working knowledge of common MS Office programs.
  • Must have strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to successfully complete General Code of Operating Rules and Roadway Worker Protection classes.
  • Must possess a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License and comply with Xanterra/GCR Vehicle/Equipment Policy.
