Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection control practices. Willingness to accept new ideas and work under stressful conditions. Coordinates and develops staff. Provides leadership by example on proper procedure and compliance with regulatory requirements. Assumes responsibility of department in the absence of manager. Works with manager in developing quality monitors, inservice and orientation programs and assists in investigation of problem areas or complaints concerning intra and interdepartmental operation. Willingness to be an active SPD team member, to abide by the teams norms and processes and embrace the team's vision. Responsible for short term and long term planning and implementation of all aspects of staff training and development for Sterile Processing. Provides orientation training for SPD staff. Reviews annually all inter department to ensure sterility of all supplies. Maintains current knowledge AAMI, OSHA, FDA, and CMS policies and recommendations. Serves as a resource to SPD staff, SPD manager and ancillary departments.
High School and surgical tech diploma
5+ years SPD,
5+ years OR and Supervisory experience

Instrument assembly and sterilization experience. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Must be able to work as a team member with peers and customers in other departments.
