Are you eager transform behavioral health practice nationwide? Do you have the capability to bring psychiatric best practice to consumers and patients in a scaled, modern solution?

As the Chief Medical Officer, you will be tasked with building and managing the clinical core of a new business from the ground up, with the purpose of expanding access to behavioral health care nationwide. You will be responsible for all medical and clinical leadership, including protocol development, clinical quality oversight for all clinical programs, including digital health and care coordination tools, clinical quality measurement and management, and the recruitment and retention of an industry leading staff of physicians and other licensed mental health practitioners.

This is a new, technology-enabled clinical practice. You should bring a commitment to, and intimate knowledge of, current evidence based practice; familiarity and comfort with the use of digital health tools to engage, support, and empower patients; and experience building and managing clinical practices that support the effective integration of behavioral health in to primary care.

The ideal candidate will be an inspirational physician leader, with an understanding of how to build clinical scale while maintaining the highest clinical standards. You will have strong relationships in the medical and psychiatric community, as well as the ability to work closely with your business and operations partners to achieve the business’s goals.
If you are located in Eden Prairie, MN, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Overall responsibility for leadership and direction of clinical programs and medical management
  • Development, maintenance, and evolution of evidence-based clinical protocols, including patient measurement and monitoring tools
  • Clinical oversight and guidance for digital health therapeutics (including interactive CBT)
  • Development and management of a comprehensive quality assurance and improvement program, including clinical measurement and reporting, compliance, and accreditation
  • Recruitment and retention of an industry-leading clinical staff of psychiatrists and other licensed behavioral health professionals, and the ability to motivate and inspire them to serve at the tops of their licenses
  • Assuring appropriate licensure for all clinical staff
  • Physician leadership for national and local medical and community relations, including with primary care practices and practitioners in local markets, national physician and other provider and advocacy organizations, and core UnitedHealth Group stakeholders
  • Active and effective participation as a member of Senior Leadership, with the dual mission of expanding access to evidence-based care while meeting operational and financial goals

Required Qualifications:
  • MD or DO with Board Certification in Psychiatry and completion of an accredited psychiatric residency
  • Active medical license
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in practice, evidence- and measurement-based practice, continuous improvement, and innovation.
  • Prior experience in the role of Medical Director or CMO for a large physician or behavioral health practice
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with business partners and leadership to effectively grow the clinical practice
  • Experience incorporating digital health tools in to clinical practice
  • Knowledge of and experience with telehealth
  • Strong existing relationships in the medical and medical education communities
