The Community Outreach Ambassador - Irvine, CA is responsible for strategizing and developing marketing tactics to influence and increase enrollment in contracted Medicare Advantage plans. They also execute marketing plans that are primarily activity driven.  Strategies are developed with marketing director. This position requires excellent relationship development and customer service skills with health plans, brokers, community centers, faith-based organizations, employers, government organizations and others involved with Medicare eligible. A secondary focus is customer service. It is front-line resolution of routine and complex problems of Monarch members. 
The Community Outreach Ambassador also serves as a dedicated resource for community members who work with Medicare eligible. They are a primary point of contact for eligible, members and others who work with these groups.
This position requires event coordination, tracking business development opportunities and detailed reporting to evaluate for return on effort. It supports marketing plans aligned with the business goals of Optum and Monarch HealthCare.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with and obtains approval from market leadership to develop an action plan for designated territory
  • Seeks and tracks business development opportunities
  • Maintains accountability for time and financial investment
  • Participate in activities designed to enhance member retention
  • Coordinates events with others, requires excellent communication, collaboration and time management
  • Identifies and responds to senior member and sales concerns
  • Works toward problem resolution within Monarch
  • Performs appropriate research and resolution in conjunction with Provider Relations, Customer Service, business operations and clinical teams
  • Keeps current with changes in Monarch’s clinical programs
  • Refers members and works under the direction of the clinical team to communicate with members
  • Responsible for coordinating, collecting and being knowledgeable about senior health plan benefits, must educate members as needed
  • Stays informed about changes in Monarch provider network and is a resource for physician referrals
  • Acts as a general resource for other areas of senior care such as transportation, assisted living, financial counseling, hospice, care giver information, advance directives, health insurance, prescription drug discounts, senior housing, food and more
  • Refers to Monarch pharmacist, or other clinical staff when appropriate
  • Provides health education and promotes Monarch physicians at community marketing events, senior living or recreational facilities in collaboration with community partners
  • Participates in the development of marketing materials for sales channel, seniors, health education, and senior newsletter
  • Makes customer service visits to Monarch primary care physicians, especially those with senior growth potential
  • Initiates, seeks out and develops relationships with health plan sales channels, community influences and hospitals in order to identify and implement awareness and acquisition opportunities with Medicare eligible
  • Collaborates with physician marketing specialist, marketing staff, Provider Relations and Quality Improvement
  • Participates in a team effort to help others in Network Management
  • Attends community activities, conducts group presentations and participates in networking meetings that lends to Monarch brand visibility
  • Participates in office manager meetings, Monarch physician general membership meetings, internal department meetings and other special meetings as needed

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of healthcare, provider relations, sales or marketing experience
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word (creating and editing documents), Microsoft PowerPoint (editing slides) and Microsoft Excel (general spreadsheet navigation and data entry)
    Access to reliable transportation that will enable you to travel to client and/or patient sites within a designated area
  • Ability to travel up to 75% within greater Orange County / Long Beach area
  • Flexible to working outside regular business hours (evenings / weekends) as needed
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher)
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) is highly desired
  • Experience with medical groups or physician practice or health plans
  • Previous experience working with Medicare Advantage
  • Previous experience working with older adult demographic
  • Previous community outreach experience
  • Previous customer service experience

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to transport and set up presentation equipment (pushing and pulling carts) and marketing materials
  • Previous experience with in a large matrix organization
