Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Wells Fargo Compliance is the company’s compliance second line of defense function, providing company-wide leadership, standards, support, and independent oversight to ensure that all business groups abide by applicable laws, rules, regulations and regulatory guidance (regulatory requirements), meet compliance responsibilities, and manage compliance risks. Wells Fargo Compliance credibly challenges management decisions, business processes and activities, and evaluates and assesses adherence to applicable regulatory requirements. It provides appropriate analysis, reporting, and escalation to senior management and the Board of Directors, sets minimum standards for the company, and gives advice, guidance, and support for compliance risk management activities across the enterprise.

The Foreign Exchange (FX) Compliance team serves as the second line of defense for the Foreign Exchange business specifically within the WFS MACRO group of Wholesale Banking. This group is responsible for developing and administering the Compliance Program for the FX business, including project implementations for new or changed regulations, partner support, major requirements, controls and reporting, as well as coordination of testing, audit and regulatory engagements to ensure conformance with regulatory and corporate standards.

The Compliance Consultant is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring risk-based compliance programs to assure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory requirements. Works with complex business units and provides compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with high risk to identify and mitigate regulatory risk in all business activities. Designs and develops compliance testing strategies and methodologies; evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls and identifies issues resulting from internal and/or external compliance examinations. Consults with business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manage change to ensure regulatory compliance. Identifies training opportunities; designs/coordinates the development of training materials; delivers or coordinates training delivery. Reports findings and recommendations to senior management. Manages and/or coordinates production of periodic compliance performance reports for senior management, including trend analysis and recommended strategies.

Specific duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

In addition to filling the standard role of an FX Business Unit Compliance Officer, will assume responsibility for the FX complaints program, Marketing Reviews and related joint efforts with Legal pertaining to customer-facing communications, as well as multiple consumer-related Major Requirements including UDAAP, Elder Abuse and ADA. Team member will also track, disposition, and report on escalated issues from the business and various stakeholders, including the FX Surveillance Team.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • Experience in a foreign exchange derivatives or securities environment
  • Understanding of regional and non-US jurisdictional banking regulations
  • Strong organizational skills: experience managing projects including task lists, timelines and milestones and the ability to engage in several projects at one time
  • Ability to collaborate with others, maintain high levels of engagement and generate creative solutions
  • Ability to identify and quantify Key Risk Indicators and other risk measurement or assessment experience
  • Ability to formulate proposed resolutions, make difficult decisions and deliver challenging messages
