Wealth and Investment Management (WIM) is one of the company’s four main divisions. WIM businesses build enduring client relationships through sound, thoughtful and objective advice. We help our clients by developing individualized plans for everything from retirement goals to business succession planning, to family legacy intentions. Services include comprehensive planning and advice, investment management, brokerage, private banking, estate planning strategies, trust, insurance and both individual and institutional retirement.

The Wealth and Investment Management (WIM) group is seeking a Compliance Manager to manage the development, implementation and monitoring of risk-based AML Program related activities for WIM’s Institutional Retirement and Trust (IRT) and Trust Operations lines of business. The Compliance Manager will work to maintain the governing principles and standards which will protect the supported businesses from nefarious financial crimes related activity such as money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial risks associated with unusual and fraudulent activity.

The Compliance Manager must provide oversight of the risk-based compliance program to assure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory requirements. The Compliance Manager will work with assigned business units and provide compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with moderate to high risk to identify assess and mitigate regulatory risk in all business activities. Works with business line and/or functional management to resolve issues and address deficiencies. Develops testing strategies and methodologies; evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls and identifies issues resulting from internal and/or external compliance examinations. Ensures coordination and communication within the business, with other business units, the Law Department, Internal Audit and external agencies as necessary. Consults with business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manage change to ensure regulatory compliance. Identifies training opportunities; may design/coordinate the development of training materials and deliver training. Manages a team of consultants/specialists.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 8+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 4+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
  • 3+ years of management experience

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • 3+ years of experience with BSA/AML/OFAC laws and regulations
  • Knowledge and understanding of Anti Money Laundering (AML) requirements
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills with ability to turn findings into strategic imperatives
  • Knowledge and understanding of report creation: researching, interpreting, and summarizing data
  • SharePoint experience
  • Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals
Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with AML, Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, and/or Internal Audit policies and programs.
  • Experience tracking, monitoring and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Issue management experience related to AML regulations and requirements, fraud, sanctions and anti-bribery
  • Knowledge of financial services products, particularly related to Retirement and Trust
  • CFE, ACAMS or other financial crimes related certifications
  • Experience with retirement, trust or custody
  • Experience using risk reporting tools such as SHRP and/or Actimize
  • Experience managing a team in financial fraud operation environment
