Title Computer Operations Engineer Position Posting Location Buffalo Status Full Time Regular Hours 08:00-05:00 Job Description Ensures the availability of all operational applications and the print environment, including configuration, maintenance, upgrades and performance for new and existing operational applications and printer hardware. Produces proposals for printer hardware and operational application acquisition, designs complex technical solutions and leads other team members in project management. Assists the Manager in duties such as employee evaluations, resource allocation, and scheduling. Primary Responsibility Reviews, analyzes, develops, installs, and modifies computer operational application systems such as OnDemand, Exstream, EOM, Finalist and File Base systems d-Series, ECOmeter and Pharos. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the applications, print streams and the print environment. Detects, diagnoses and reports related problems. Serves as the lead contact to support the hardware and application configuration of supported products. Leads the projects relating to installing, supporting, modifying operational applications and the print environment. Provides detailed project plans including resource allocation and reports to management on the status of projects in a timely manner. Provides adequate documentation, effective communication and leads meetings as required. Oversees the monitoring of system performance and availability and manages performance and availability during non-core business hours. Advises management on the effectiveness of the capacity in place. Prepares proposals for the acquisition of new hardware and application when needed. Understands disaster recovery concepts and be able to lead in the recovery of the print environment and Operational applications. Provides support to the various departments that use the services provided. Applies IT standards, methodologies, and Quality Assurance practices and ensures all staff does the same. Supports applications and print environment during times of emergency based on 7 X 24 availability. Leads technicians during a disaster and regularly schedules disaster recovery tests in accordance with technical auditors. Reports to management on Capacity/Performance Management and prepares proposals for hardware/Software acquisition as well as participate in the budget process. Reviews and makes recommendations for changes that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our printing environment ensuring all technical considerations are evaluated. Stays abreast of emerging technologies and assesses the applicability of technology in improving the operating print environment at HealthNow NY Inc. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of Printing Systems, Advanced Fulfillment Center practices and Information Technology concepts. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Ability to work without supervision and exhibit the ability to lead in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to exhibit extremely strong problem solving skills with the ability to perform tasks in a sometimes high-pressure environment. Ability to work in a 365 by 7 by 24 environment. Ability to understand the HealthNow business practices and how technology may impact the business. Strong oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to lead and direct other team members to accomplish specific goals. Provides consultation and collaboration to help generate business decisions aligned with strategic direction.
Experience Or related area(s).In some cases a Bachelor's degree in another area or pertinent work experience can be substituted. Some specific training pertaining to the application from the vendor is required. Requires a minimum of six (6)years of application and print administration, including print stream experience.
