The Paralegal provides support to the legal department of Company by assisting with administrative duties involving the Company and its legal, risk management, and compliance requirements. The Paralegal must be highly organized and detail oriented, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This position requires proficiency in Outlook, Word, Sharepoint, Excel and Powerpoint.


  • Prepares and maintains all hospital licensure with the state, Medicare, Medicaid, Pharmacy and CLIA;
  • Maintains the records for the Company, its subsidiaries and operating units in multi-state organization;
  • Calendars due dates for annual reports, licenses, financial statements and permits. Assists in their preparation and files such documents when due.
  • Assists with the gathering and organizing of documentation for the acquisition of business units.
  • Creates and updates a database of documentation for various business transactions.
  • Provides legal documents requested by auditors for annual audit.
  • Researches state business and regulatory agency websites for requirements, procedures, and to verify information.
  • Maintains files of litigation matters and regulatory agency inquiries and investigations.
  • Coordinates compliance audits with hospitals and billing staff.
  • Maintains files and database of contracts; prepares and circulates periodic notices of expiring contracts.
  • Assists with risk management, including: preparing and sending notifications of incidents to insurance carrier; maintaining a log of incidents reported; communicating with insurance carrier regarding current claims as directed.
  • Tracks outside counsel legal bills and insurance deductible amounts.
  • Assists in updating and distributing compliance directives, policies and forms to employees.
  • Assists in educating employees regarding compliance responsibilities and reporting requirements.
  • Responds to requests for compliance information.
  • Prepares and responds to discovery requests as part of litigation support tasks
  • Treats co-workers consistent with Company’s Mission Statement, Vision, Values and Performance Standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or described by the General Counsel
  • Experience preparing and maintain necessary hospital licensure.
  • Minimum five years of legal assistant or paralegal experience in a legal or regulatory department of a healthcare organization.
  • Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated high-level organizational skills, detail-oriented with a proven ability to handle multiple priorities and to take initiative to resolve issues.
  • Demonstrated exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including strong spelling, grammatical and mathematical skills. Strong focus on business writing practices and must be able proofread and produce accurate, professional documents and information.
  • Excellent calendar management skills, including the coordination of complex meetings and conferences.
  • High degree of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
  • Participate and project a positive and professional image of the organization.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and develop proactive planning for the upcoming week.
  • Advanced computer literacy is a must with extensive knowledge of in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, and Power Point).
