We are a leader in advancing equal opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. Our services for children provide early intervention, inclusive early learning, and after school programs. Our employment services include transition services, vocational training, job placement, and supported employment.

Our History
Northwest Center was founded in 1965 by parents who refused to institutionalize their children with developmental disabilities or accept the prevailing notion that their children couldn't be taught. Banding together to Northwest Center, they hired their own teachers to develop education programs targeted to special needs children.

Our founders authored and won approval of civil rights legislation that opened the doors of Washington State schools to children with disabilities. House Bill (HB) 90 "Education for All" was signed into law in 1971 and served as the model for national legislation, The Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975. View a timeline of our history. 

In 1967, just two years after our founding, Northwest Center entered into a partnership with Value Village. We lect clothing and household donations with The Big Blue Truck™ and The Blue Bin. Value Village buys that merchandise to sell in its stores, and the revenue funds our inclusive education and employment programs. ​Learn more about our 50 partnership for good.

Location: Seattle, WA (South Lake Union)
Schedule: Monday through Friday 9:30AM - 6:00PM
Wage: $15.45 per hr w/increase to $18.50 after the probationary period!

Requirements:

  • Customer service, call center, or administrative support experience
  • 1-year experience with MS Office Software
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interrelate with management, desk mates, and employees
  • Able to work with a high degree of integrity and operate independently
  • Able to multi-task and work in a busy and hectic environment

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing 5-star customer service to visitors, employees, and contractors in person, on the phone, and in all electronic communications. 
  • Answering incoming telephone calls and routing callers to the person who can best assist them.
  • Ensuring all visitors complete, sign, and understand their responsibility for adhering to the corporation's Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA) before arranging for the guests to move about the campus.  
  • Maintaining professionalism and composure when interacting with all callers.
  • Strategically determine what additional support is needed when handling sensitive inquiries in person or on the phone.
