We are seeking a qualified attorney for a senior position in the UnitedHealthcare legal department with primary responsibility for supporting executive innovation efforts, supporting all aspect of data driven initiatives and executing on key transactions. You will interface with senior executives on innovation, data policy and execution of technology transactions.
Legal Leadership for Strategic Innovations. Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert in support of executive business innovation teams. Partner with executive leaders to develop innovative products and services designed to work within legal norms. Stay current on emerging technology (e.g. big data, block chain, artificial intelligence, machine learning) and associated legal analysis to enable cutting edge innovation.
Data as an Asset. Play a leadership role in the design and implementation of the legal architecture for UnitedHealthcare’s data driven initiatives. Act as the primary subject matter expert regarding the legal aspects of acquiring, protecting and using data assets. Develop and support enterprise wide policies regarding data acquisition, protection and use. Create and drive implementation of contract language best practices across the legal department. Support the legal team by drafting, reviewing and negotiating data protection, ownership and use provisions in contracts.
Technology Transaction Execution. Serve as counsel to executive leadership in the development, structuring and execution of innovative technology transactions. Provide legal expertise, drafting and negotiation for unique transactions, including complex contracts, joint ventures, development agreements, innovation pilot programs and other strategic initiatives.
Basic Qualifications Juris Doctorate Degree. 10+ years of relevant legal experience with law firm or in-house. Expertise, judgement and presence to advise executive leadership on legal aspects of emerging technologies. Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate complex contracts. Expertise on laws impacting the acquisition, protection and use of data. Knowledge of managed care, insurance and regulatory matters preferred but not required. Ability to drive results. Strong work ethic. Adept at working in a fast-paced, performance-driven culture. Clear and concise communications and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to executive leadership.
