Designer - Trade division
Designer will work closely with Art Director/Creative Director to concept and create high quality designs for both trade hard covers & paperbacks, as well as Graphix graphic novel titles. Candidate will be responsible for seeing each book through the design process from conception to final proofs. Required skills include strong knowledge of typography and a proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite – indesign, photoshop, illustrator. Another part of the job will be to manage offsite talent, which includes freelance illustrators, photographers and designers.



  • Working with illustrators and freelance designers.

  • Working with the editorial team to generate new ideas for design and branding of books and book series.

  • Regularly liaising with several in-house departments including editorial, production, manufacturing.

  • Attending bi-weekly production meetings providing updates on title status. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required for meetings, presentations, and email correspondence.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" />




  • 1-2 years design experience in design.

  • Strong computer skills in InDesign, Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Ability to work well in a collaborative, team and deadline-oriented environment.
