Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Wells Fargo Capital Finance (WFCF) is one of the top lead arrangers of asset-based loans in the U.S. with a large and diversified portfolio of close to 2,400 customers and more than $33 billion in loans outstanding. WFCF offers traditional asset-based financing, specialized senior secured financing, accounts receivable financing, purchase order financing, and supply chain financing to a wide range of companies throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

This position will help facilitate Direct Loan Originations support for our Corporate Finance originations team in Chicago. This is a key position with responsibilities that include business development coverage of Wells Fargo Capital Finance’s prospective clients in close partnership with Wells Fargo Wholesale Banking Partners. Originations coverage includes representing WFCF through the direct contacting of company c-level execs and decision-makers and/or leveraging existing Wells Fargo relationships to do the same.

Additional responsibilities of the role include:

  • researching public and private companies;
  • tracking potential prospects through an organized, consistent, and persistent coverage model;
  • maintaining WFCF databases for direct origination efforts;
  • identifying potential new prospects;
  • identifying new resources to increase success of the direct loan originations program;
  • working closely with a team of analysts who provide reporting, research, and analytical support; and
  • supporting Business Development Officers (BDOs) through the solicitation process once new opportunities have been identified and pre-screened.

Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: leveraged finance, commercial finance, or investment banking
Desired Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of commercial lending, private equity, or investment banking environment
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Other Desired Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial or corporate lending, including exposure to the credit underwriting process.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze lending opportunities, including experience with financial statement analysis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate asset based lending credit products to prospects and to our Wholesale partners.
  • Knowledge of asset based lending and capital markets.
  • Strong commitment to the sourcing of new business.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and usage protocols.
