Director, Commercial Network Strategy and Programs - Minnetonka, MN preferred or Telecommute

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represents and advocates for UnitedHealthcare’s Employer and Individual (E&I)  business segment to ensure network strategy and programs are being evaluated, developed and executed to deliver on our commitments to our commercial customers and members.  

  • Primary lead serving as the E&I and the UnitedHealth Networks (UHN) commercial business planning contact.  Oversees monthly commercial executive reporting (Monthly Business Reviews, CEO Reporting, Best In Class “BIC” reports, Total Cost Of Care “TCOC” reports) to ensure business plan priorities are well communicated, executed and tracked by the UHN organization.    Follows up and researches any executive inquiries on related reports.

  • Engages, contributes or leads network solution projects when unique complex commercial network and/or E&I client abrasion issues are escalated.  

  • Independently engages with cross function teams that need input/collaboration from the commercial network team.  (i.e. Reimbursement Policy Oversight Committee, commercial Diabetes Solutions team, Dialysis Summit)   

  • Adapts departmental plans to manage new emerging priorities to address business and operational challenges when they arise.

  • Develops and maintains network access strategy and guidance documents “rules of the road” that support emerging client request for unique network configurations (client specific providers, vendor usage, network tiering request.)

  • Supports a rational cohesive horizontal provider strategy across all lines of business through strong communication with their Medicare and Retirement (M&R) and Community and State (C&S) business segment peers.

  • Provides secondary input and support for the UnitedHealthcare Data Policy Management (DPM) Governance group.

  • Develops and delivers a concise credible commercial network value story for Sales University and UHN University. 

  • Speaks with detailed expertise to clients and other external audiences regarding our network strategies and innovations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a network management-related role handling complex network providers with accountability for business results.
  • 5+ years of experience in the health care industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to develop presentations and speak clearly and concisely, conveying complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret complex information form others.
  • Organized, detailed oriented project management skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the enterprise.
  • Telecommuting option available.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master degree in management or healthcare related field.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, establishing rapport and working well with others
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
