Director, Corporate Security and Safety

The Director, Corporate Security and Safety plans, directs and coordinates activities relating to the corporate wide protection, safeguarding and security of company assets, including property, associates, guests and invitees and others. The Director reviews, designs, implements and monitors security policies, procedures, training, metrics and programs. Ensures compliance with federal, state, local and global regulations and authority.


  1. Security Response
  • Reviews, revises, recommends, implements and monitors appropriate intake of security related incidents
  • Manages and administers security related incidents including intake, response and resolution
  • Directs and manages response of security related incidents
  • Conducts and supervises investigations, and prepares reports relating to investigations of any losses or violations
  • Works with internal and external partners in coordination and management of security related incidents
  • As needed, alerts, collaborates, and complies with federal, state, local and global regulators and authorities
  • Responsible for protecting critical assets for HRB globally, including all offices, other corporate locations etc.
  • Responsible for security standards for associates while traveling abroad
  • May travel to sites for further review and remediation of security issues
  • Manages other duties, as assigned, related to security events
  1. Training, Policies and Procedures
  • Reviews, revises, designs, implements and monitors security policies, procedures and training for operations globally
  • Directs and coordinates activities and security functions, utilizing knowledge of established policies, procedures and practices
  • Conducts appropriate in-person, video, or computer-based training for associates
  • Assists in preparation of emergency management and contingency planning
  1. Security Staff/Vendor
  • Develops preventative security programs, including the supervision of internal security personnel and/or security vendors
  • Serves as liaison with security vendors, public law enforcement, fire and other agencies related to security
  • Performs, arranges and supervises executive protection
  • Initiates or assists activities for recruitment, selections, transfers, promotions and discipline or dismissal measures
  • Prepares and/or reviews work schedules; assigns or delegates responsibilities for internal security personnel or security vendors
  • Provides work directives for internal security personnel or security vendors
  1. Security Metrics
  • Performs audits of security related performance and conducts physical surveys of premise security
  • Reviews and recommends security metrics, including preventative equipment and audits security equipment condition
  • Reviews and recommends requests for hardware / software upgrades and replacements
  • Completes and provides order forms for security equipment and in accordance with fiscal authority policy, approve invoices for payment

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, security or a closely related field, or equivalent number of years of experience
Minimum Requirements

  • Extensive experience in area of expertise and management experience Ten (10) years with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Five (5) years people management experience
  • Ability to translate business strategy into department/product/program strategy
  • Ability to guide groups toward a vision and identify/develop solutions
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence others across the organization 
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of schedules, tight deadlines, and competitive demands
  • Ability to work with external vendors
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to communicate to and train varied audiences utilizing a variety of methods.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Law enforcement experience
  • Firearm license
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) by the American Society for Industrial Security
