Position Summary

Drive long-term profitable growth of the Company's ecommerce business by leading the sales and merchandising plans for Giant Eagle's online grocery business and by building an eCommerce marketplace to sell a wide assortment of items across grocery and non-grocery categories. Support the overall Giant Eagle online customer experience by sourcing and offering relevant and innovative products. Be the leading advocate for Giant Eagle's unified commerce offering to our customers, internal stakeholders, and suppliers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the merchandising strategy for eCommerce including product assortment, customer site experience, and pricing and promotion
  • Develop eCommerce merchandising concepts and site experiences that drive long-term customer relationships and grow sales over time.
  • Manage the overall eCommerce marketplace P&L ensuring that products are sourced and sold in a long-term, profitable manner.
  • Align with the supermarket merchandisers to drive eCommerce business by leveraging existing vendor and supplier relationship to bring additional products from existing suppliers to market.
  • Actively recruit and onboard sellers to the Giant Eagle marketplace with the goal of achieving over 100,000 additional items for sale within 18 months.
  • Manage and monitor the online marketplace to ensure all items are effectively presented to customers and take corrective actions where necessary.
  • Align with the eCommerce and Performance marketing teams to ensure the marketing strategy and tactics support all eCommerce merchandising plans. This includes ensuring the marketing teams are providing SEO, paid and display media, and social support for the marketplace overall and key marketplace items.
  • Partner with Marketing, Merchandising, eCommerce Operations, and Store operations to develop and execute in-store programs that drive eCommerce sales.
  • Source innovative sellers and offerings that generate and maintain customer interest and establish Giant Eagle's marketplace as a destination eCommerce offering.
  • Use the online marketplace as an opportunity to test customer demand for new products, services, and categories with the goal of adding 50 service providers within 18 months.
  • Lead and develop the eCommerce merchandising team
  • Partner with eCommerce Operations, Store Operations, Supply Chain Operations, Customer Care, and third parties to ensure each group provides exceptional product quality, accurate orders, and fast service to our customers.
  • Work with the eCommerce Product Manager and IT team to design and execute a simple, intuitive, and unified customer experience. Ensure the IT team is delivering an excellent online experience for customers and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

Education and Training Required

  • Bachelors Degree

Experience Required

  • 5 to 10 years
  • 5+ years in eCommerce sales or fulfillment role
  • 5+ years experience in building eCommerce marketplaces or other eCommerce businesses

Experience Desired
