Director, Medical Clinical Operations - Oncology Value Creation Team

Value Creation Teams are responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive affordability strategy to improve the value, quality and affordability of care. The Director, Medical Clinical Operations position will be responsible for fostering highly collaborative environments, and working with matrix partners to develop holistic approaches that reflect the triple aim, will provide leadership and is accountable for Oncology value-based payment initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:
 
  • Develops and executes strategy for oncology value based payment initiatives
  • Works across with organization with other business partners in Network and Clinical Operations to partner with practices to transform cancer care
  • Communicates to internal and external audiences on UHC’s oncology value based payment initiatives
  • Enables and promotes a highly cohesive and collaborative environment between the Value Creation Project Management Office (PMO) and Regional Value Creation
  • Develops and communicates performance metrics and expectations
  • Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance and results through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff
  • Participates in the development of business strategy and manages business plans to achieve objectives
  • Creates infrastructure and parameters for work stream, and manages cross-functional work stream strategies and plans; directs cross functional and/or cross segment teams
  • Translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Fosters relationships with matrix partners/stakeholders
  • Influences senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches
  • Leads large, complex programs to achieve key business objectives

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or 10+ years of applicable experience in lieu of degree
  • 6+ years’ experience in oncology practice management or administration of quality programs related to cancer care
  • 3+ years’ proven data evaluation and interpretation skills; ability to focus on key metrics
  • 3+ years in healthcare business management, managed care or health plan management experience with accountability for business metrics and financial results
  • Knowledge and experience in leading initiatives in practice transformation
  • Ability to engage with oncology practices regarding financial and clinical aspects of alternative payment models
  • Project Management experience
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills that are clear, concise, detailed, professional, member and client facing
  • Expertise in strategy development, operational management, and business leadership
  • Ability to form alliances with supporting organizations and work in a matrixed environment
  • Advanced with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse with Oncology experience
  • Managed Care/ Health Plan experience
