The Director of Nursing organizes and directs the administration of the nursing staff with 24-hour responsibility and accountability. Applies the management concepts of planning, organizing, collaborating, and directing activities to implement the clinical nursing program in defined areas. Establishes policies and procedures to comply with Federal, State and local laws, regulations, codes and current practice standards. Has direct responsibility for waived testing performed, which includes glucose monitoring, and hemoccult. The Director of Nursing has delegated authority to take immediate and appropriate action in the event of an emergency situation where there is clear and present danger that poses a threat of personal injury, or a threat of damage to property or equipment. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the recruitment, retention, training and continuing education of nursing department staff. The Director of Nursing is designated to act in the absence of the Administrator. Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental, treatment needs of residents, families, and visitors ranging in age from early adult to late adult.
Requirements for this position include:
- RN Degree - Associate degree accepted, BSN/MSN Preferred
- Strong computer skills with accuracy in typing, ability to coordinate and file, excellent professional communication skills
