Position Summary

The Language Services Dispatcher is responsible for maintaining and ensuring effective day to day operations for processing the 6TALK interpreter request line; schedules the Medical Interpreters to requested patient locations within SRHS; coordinates with contract agencies to provide backup when the department's Medical Interpreters are not available. Duties include management of the monthly interpreter schedules, adjusting the

schedules to meet the needs of the Medical Interpreters. Reports to the department manager and demonstrates knowledge of developmental behaviors and safety issues related to the department.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High School graduate; preferred college courses or Associate's Degree in Healthcare or Business

Experience: Two to three years' experience in a similar dispatching position

Proven track record of managing and organizing multiple monthly schedules in a fast-paced productive work environment

Works collaboratively with the Administrative Assistant and Medical Interpreters

Builds effective relationships with the numerous departments within SRHS to provide timely requests for Medical Interpreters.

Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer relations skills

Interacts with various departments in a polite and professional manner to arrange and schedule

Interpreter requests, and resolve any inconsistencies of information on non-English speaking, hard of hearing or deaf patients

Oversees day to day scheduling and reports problems to Administrative Assistant & Manager

Uses Midas interpreter reports and Epic Cadence to schedule interpreter appointments

Ensures that the medical interpreters follow department Standard Operating Procedures as pertaining to appointment times, conduct etc.

Must be able to take calls from the 6TALK line to provide emergency requests for limited English proficiency patients
