The EMT, under the supervision of the ED/EMS Clinical Coordinator, Lead Paramedic and the ER Director, is responsible for the pre-hospital care of patients requiring care as the result of illness/injury and is responsible for the direction of patient care at the basic life support level. The EMT delivers care based on patient needs appropriate for the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. He/she demonstrates an interest in a patient centered approach to total pre-hospital care. Demonstrates cooperation, flexibility and resourcefulness when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians and other healthcare providers. The EMT shall be responsible for assisting with planning, supervising and evaluating the pre-hospital care of patients and for coordinating emergency medical care and transportation. The EMT may also provide assistance in the ED when available based on call volume and other duties as assigned.Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of course of study appropriate to the skills of EMT conducted by an accredited college or school.
Exhibits proficiency in pre-hospital care, has strong written and oral communication skills, as well as attention to detail.
1 year pre-hospital experience is preferred but is not required based upon previous work experience.
PA EMT certification required
Valid PA driver’s license with Bureau of EMS approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course
Must be 21 years of age
BLS CPR certification required
Hazmat awareness – proof of course completion
