Description

The Senior Counselor provides ongoing and crisis intervention focused on the emotional, social, vocational, educational, health-related, developmental, and organizational concerns that impact daily lives. The Senior Counselor work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Responsibilities

The Senior Counselor addresses a wide range of issues including problems in daily living, psychiatric crisis, and violent situations. Requires expertise and specialized knowledge in substance abuse, domestic abuse, grief counseling, workplace problems, and management consultation. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

  • Provide in-person assessment and referral and brief- solution-focused counseling.
  • Assist with the disposition with clients experiencing an emergency situation. 
  • Document all case activity in Humana’s electronic clinical platform.
  • In certain circumstances, it may be required that the EAP Consultant responds to critical Incidents in the workplace and facilitates post traumatic incident adaptation.
  • Ability to effectively interact with a team of staff and network providers and to foster positive relationships with human resource and management contacts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and to organize, prioritize and multi-task.

               

Required Qualifications

  • Master's level degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other applicable field
  • CEAP Preferred
  • Applicable State licensure in field of study, licensed for independent clinical practice
  • 5-10 years or more of work experience in applicable field
  • Experience providing management consultation
  • Experience developing and delivering trainings
  • Excellent verbal, communication, interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing management consultation
  • Experience providing Critical Incident Response (CIR)
  • Experience developing and delivering trainings
  • Ability to conduct formal and informal presentations to employer based groups and to appropriately represent EAP at gatherings such as health fairs and open enrollment activities.

Additional Information

This is a part time on-site position at a Wellness Center for employees who work in a corporate setting.   The position will be 8 hours (two 4-hour days) with potential for growth.
