Position Summary

Giant Eagle, Inc. seeks a Software Engineer at its corporate offices in Pittsburgh, PA

Job Responsibilities

  • This incumbent will design develop, modify, debug and evaluate programming systems and applications
  • Analyze existing programs, formulate logic for new systems, devise logic procedures, prepare flowcharts, perform coding, tests and debug programs
  • They will also develop conversion and system implementation plan while preparing and obtaining approval of systems and programming documentation.
  • The Software Engineer also recommends changes in development, maintenance and system standards, as well as trains users in conversion and implementation of systems
  • Finally, it will participate on project teams developing systems & applications which will assist in ensuring customer requirements are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Education and Training Required

  • Bachelors Degree Computer Science

Experience Required

  • 3 to 5 years
  • 4 years of PeopleSoft HCM development experience, with at least 2 years of experience supporting Payroll NA
  • Experience with complete software development life cycle;
  • Superior analysis and problem-solving skills; Ability to work with multiple operating systems, namely Windows and UNIX;
  • Ability to design, develop and unit test customizations using PeopleTools.
  • Proficient with Integration Broker and Web Services, PeopleTools such as PeopleCode, Application Package, Application Engine, SQR, and COBOL; strong SQL skills and good understanding relational database concepts
