Title Engineer Test Automation II Position Posting Location Buffalo Status Full Time Regular Hours As Specified Job Description The Test Automation Engineer II is responsible for the design, planning, and creation of automated functional and performance tests. The Test Automation Engineer will possess the necessary skills and experience to architect and develop automated test infrastructure and define test development needs and procedures. Primary Responsibility Creates, maintains and executes Automated Functional Test Plans, Automated Functional Test Scripts, and Performance Test Scripts. Creates reusable, modular test scripts. Creates test strategies and schedules relevant to automated test creation and execution. Documents and interprets results for business process flows for generation of automated test scripts. Debugs issues that arise. Develops understanding of the ROI assessment process to provide input to the Test Automation Lead. May participate in ROI evaluation. Analyzes application design for suitability of automated testing. Recommends changes to facilitate test automation. Documents, implements, and practices best practices in manual and automated testing to encourage well-documented and reproducible testing results. Involved with the continual improvement of manual test and automation processes to provide improved quality assurance and reduction in testing cycle time. Defines and implements standards to satisfy the retention, cataloging and execution requirements for the automated regression test suites. Builds automated regression test suite using automated scripts. Performs other duties as required. Knowledge and Skills TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Understanding of Object Oriented development concepts. Experienced using source control (SVN/Git). Experienced in SQL commands. Understanding of database structure and concepts. Intermediate HTML/CSS/JavaScript. Intermediate knowledge of functional automation testing tools (Selenium/UFT/Tosca). Intermediate knowledge of performance testing tools (JMeter/LoadRunner/LoadUI). Intermediate knowledge of the .Net framework. Intermediate knowledge of web service standards (SOAP and REST). Experience working with DevOps software engineering principles and concepts Test tool (HP, Rational, Compuware) certification preferred Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and experience creating SQL queries Strong analytical skills Testing background and familiarity with automated testing tools required Ability to analyze manual testing process and assess suitability for automation Understand testing methodologies Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and the role of testing and automation within the SDLC Ability to analyze business and/or functional requirement documents for testing purposes Ability to estimate testing effort, analyze change requests and initiate the scheduling of QA tasks and dependencies Create System Test Plans, Test Cases and Test Data Create and update test cases based on new/updated functional requirements Conduct System, Regression and Integration testing Providing reporting on testing results Proficient in MS Word, Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint and Lotus Notes Ability to work within a team, and if needed, independently Strong team-oriented interpersonal and communication skills to cultivate positive working relationships Experience Minimum 4 years of experience in application development and programming; minimum experience of 2 years of test automation.
