EnterpriseNow (ServiceNow) Release Engineer - Multiple Locations

EnterpriseNow is Optum’s customer service management instance of ServiceNow. It includes multiple scoped applications including Enterprise Issue Management, Enterprise Knowledge Management, and Escalated Complaint Management. As a Release Engineer, you would typically be involved in management and administration of multiple IT Functions, or managing general operations which are not specific to one IT Function. The Release Engineer is responsible for management and execution of agile release delivery for scoped applications within the EnterpriseNow platform.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Primary driver of agile release delivery through a 2-week release process
  • Understands system supply chain and how production changes can impact dependencies
  • Ensures releases are executed without downtime
  • Collaborates with EnterpriseNow scoped application capability owners and capability managers to ensure release scope is accurately documented through CA Agile milestones
  • Tracks all required pre-release testing including automated testing, QA functional testing, UAT, regression testing, and E2E business testing; ensures that adequate testing has been performed in non-production environments prior to release
  • Work with training partner, capability manager/owner, and business partner management to ensure release notes and training materials have been completed and effectively communicated prior to release
  • Creates and owns release deployment and validation plans
  • Schedules release meetings
  • Ensures appropriate attendee representation for release execution and validation
  • Understands ServiceNow release and deployment processes through update sets; the Release Engineer is responsible for knowing and documenting builds / update sets slated for a given release. The Release Engineer is also responsible for executing the deployment of update sets across non-production and to production environments.
  • Subject matter expert on IT change management policies and processes; the Release Engineer is responsible for creating change tickets in ServiceNow-ITSM, ensuring adequate change ticket documentation, and ensuring the change ticket receives all necessary approvals prior to release
  • Subject matter expert on peak season change restrictions and approval processes
  • Responsible for some ITSM service coordination
  • Management and administration of multiple IT Functions, or managing general operations which are not specific to one IT Function
  • Coordinate, supervise, and is accountable for the daily activities of business support, technical or production team or unit
  • Impact of work is most often at the team level
  • Owns output at task level
  • Work is generally limited to own function
  • Complete assigned, complex or long-term projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines
  • Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion
  • Coordinate work activities with other supervisors
  • Develop plans to meet short-term objectives
  • Identify and resolve operational problems using defined processes, expertise and judgment
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan
  • Product, service or process decisions are most likely to impact individual employees and/or customers (internal or external)
  • Performs project evaluation and cost-benefit analysis
  • Must be familiar with system development life cycle for managing systems scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member
  • Generally responsible for all work requirements on a major project(s)
  • Assess performance, reward results, motivate and foster matrix management
  • Direct team to complete projects on time, within budget
  • Delegate, integrate activities and resolve conflicts
  • Quality assurance review and evaluation and documentation of team procedures

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher level of education or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience coordinating or managing IT delivery
  • 4+ years of IT project management experience
  • 2+ years of business analysis or product/capability management experience
  • 4+ years experience working with SDLC development projects
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Healthcare experience
  • Customer service management technologies experience
  • Release engineering experience
  • Development or continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) experience
  • Automation experience
