Facility Operations Liaison - Phoenix AZ

Client Services Facility Operations Liaisons serve as revenue cycle experts on best practices in Optum360 and client/partner locations. This is a client facing role with the primary focus on improving Revenue Cycle operational outcomes by combining healthcare experience with the understanding of Optum360 solutions to bring world class results in day to day operations as well as Revenue Cycle Projects and end-to-end partnerships. The facility operations liaison acts as the conduit to bridge communications between the COE and facilities as well as with other Optum360 operations to help assure actions are taken to resolve individual issues and questions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide revenue cycle liaison services in all areas of revenue cycle operations which includes:
    • Patient Financial Services
    • Patient Access/Registrations
    • Health Information Management
  • Evaluate data to monitor performance, identify trends, and assist in root cause determination
  • Monitor/analyze the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of patient account information proactively and in response to questions from facilities and coordinate complete and timely resolution
  • Work closely with Patient Financial Services communicating issues, questions, initial analysis findings to identify issue resolution and mitigation approaches
  • Work closely with Client Service Executive to provide detail information, analysis, and communications
  • Partner closely with facility revenue integrity and other staff/leaders  for joint issues resolution
  • Partner closely with Denials Lead for denials analysis, root cause and resolutions
  • Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with all levels of Optum360 and facility staff and leadership
  • Collaborate with other teams and business partners to facilitate resolution of process/procedural issues
  • Serve as a resource for special joint task forces and projects
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Responsibilities may include:
    • Analyzing large data sets and identifying and interpreting patterns and trends in the data
    • Reviewing managed care contracts for understanding of payer responsibilities
    • Evaluating business processes and work flow to identify possible improvement opportunities
    • Evaluating payer responses and collection efforts to identify correct next steps for resolution
  • Managing multiple client-related priorities concurrently and addressing issues accordingly

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in hospital billing and collections
  • Expert knowledge of applicable billing system and working (or ability to learn quickly) knowledge of other ancillary systems
  • Strong knowledge of government and non-government payer practices, billing and collection processes, and denials
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to Travel 10 to 20%

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Microsoft Access and Hospital host system
  • Effective presentation skills  
  • A high degree of self-motivation, versatility and flexibility with demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to influence others to partner and assist with resolutions
