Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a FGP Billing Supervisor.

In this role, the successful candidate leads the work of staff in the assigned unit, and acts as the supervisor of the designated unit. Requires providing leadership, mentoring and technical expertise to staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage actions relating to delinquent accounts, collection agencies, special adjustments, and/or write-offs.
  • Maintains up-to-date expertise and knowledge of healthcare billing laws, rules, regulations, and developments necessary for the organization to make informed business decisions.
  • Uses payer websites, billing system and/or communicates with providers, patients, coders, or other responsible persons, to ensure the correctness and completeness of charges and claims, or to follow-up on accounts receivable to ensure that items in assigned workqueue(s) are resolved within required timeframes;
  • Complies with and ensures that employees comply with operational policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements;
  • Provides input on system edits, processes, policies, and billing procedures to ensure maximization of revenue;
  • Acts as lead biller to ensure that performance of the unit meets expectations;
  • Assists with recruitment and training of new employees;
  • Communicates staffing issues to senior management;
  • Provides formal performance reviews of staff;
  • Assists staff with their workqueue(s) and resolving issues;
  • Measures productivity and quality of employee work, and develops action plans as needed;
  • Participates in quality control and monitoring programs;
  • Assigns and monitors employee workqueues;
  • Performs billing tasks assigned by management which may include data entry, claim review, charge review, accounts receivable follow-up, or other related responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a 3-5 years increasingly responsible experience with some supervisory responsibility including two years medical billing, insurance, or related duties; or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. Bachelors degree required.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams, managers, supervisors, and vendors.Encourages teamwork; energetic, and motivates teams and individuals.
Ability to make sound and evaluative judgments; strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills. Working knowledge of appropriate billing and payment cycles for medical accounts.Proficient with MS Office (word, excel, power point, access); expert in Microsoft Excel; excellent with spreadsheet and medical billing software applications. Knowledge of: Current Procedures Codes (CPT) and International Class of Diseases Codes (ICD9) utilized in medical billing; medical billing software; healthcare billing including Medicare, Medicaid, or other third party payers; terminology utilized in medical billing; English usage, grammar, and spelling; basic math.
Ability to: plan, schedule, assign, coordinate, and evaluate the work of subordinates; train staff; read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures; analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations; exercise independent judgment; maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, superiors, and others; maintain confidentiality.
