Finance Manager - Minnetonka, MN

This position in UHC M&R Finance is responsible for financial planning & analysis including generating forecasts, identifying risk, and analyzing trends in SG&A. Will produce management reporting on product line leverage, fixed / variable PMPM, OCR, investments, Rx claims, customer operations, administration, and other metrics of the Medicare prescription drug business. Manager is responsible for financial planning (long range, business plan, forecasts, and budget remediation) for pharmacy intersegment SG&A and delivers annual CMS bid requirements for Part D admin costs. Position will collaborate in research of economic benchmarking to assist with the organization's business and financial planning and present findings and recommendations to management. 
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop pharmacy subject matter expertise in GAAP selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expense and/or Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) admin costs and related operating metrics
  • Manage and assist the creation of executive level management reporting packages on a monthly and quarterly basis for Part D stand alone and intersegment pharmacy SG&A
  • Develop and enhance reporting and analysis for prescription drug plans including business level cost metrics to enable business leaders to make informed decisions around pricing during CMS annual bid process and financial planning
  • Interface with OptumRx and Medicare finance leaders and build relationships in support of financial planning and performance measurement including reporting and analysis
  • Coordinate and deliver intersegment pharmacy cost requirements for finance long range and business plan, CMS bid, and financial planning, forecasting, and budget development and oversee month end process
  • Resolve CMS bid model output requirements working in conjunction with OptumRx finance and Medicare actuary, including related party requirements
  • Participate and oversee month-end close related to OptumRx SG&A results
  • Supervise measurement and reporting of Pharmacy SG&A productivity metrics and performance against previous periods for earnings release and investor calls
  • Partner with business and finance leaders to evaluate investment opportunities and cost savings initiatives to maximize resources and create efficiencies
  • Participate in benchmarking analysis and internal company projects
  • Leverage technology and carry out process improvement activities



Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent field
  • 5+ years of progressive professional experience in finance and/or accounting
  • Financial Planning and Analysis experience
  • Intermediate level of data modeling and analytics experience
  • Ability to effectively support/train and perform finance and accounting transactions
  • Ability to communicate across a matrixed organization and influence through indirect management
  • Intermediate to Advance level of proficiency with MS Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA in Finance, Accounting, Marketing or Information Systems
  • Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Healthcare or Prescription drug background
  • SG&A financial support experience
  • SAS
