Title Financial Analyst I Position Posting Location Buffalo Status Full Time Regular Hours As required Job Description Under immediate supervision, the Financial Analyst I performs individual project tasks and detailed financial analyses, as requested, using basic calculations. The incumbent develops analytical reports that assist with the organization's financial performance and trends. The analyst provides data collection and verification of internal and regulatory reporting. Primary Responsibility - Performs and manages tasks and projects related to financial analysis and planning, including but not limited to premium rate calculation, claim reserve estimation, trend analysis, provider arrangement evaluation and analysis, underwriting, government product reporting, membership reporting, product development, budget planning and other special projects
- Provides support for regulatory reporting
- Develops and implements data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data to support quality initiatives and regulatory reporting
- Designs and completes reports and studies for a variety of projects to enhance operations and identify issues
- Creates complex financial models and develops ad hoc analysis with organization-wide impact
Knowledge and Skills - Strong analytic skills with the ability to recognize and recommend solutions to problems relating to project data and information
- Demonstrates a general understanding of healthcare financial levers
- Intermediate proficiency with Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organization
- Ability to create and present effective and credible presentations
Experience - Minimum one (1) year of prior experience in financial analysis requiring a strong math, statistics, or finance background required Education Required Education:

- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related area of study required
- MBA or Masters Degree preferred
Working Conditions - Must be able to work in an office environment
- Manual Dexterity Req: Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to effectively use a computer with all its components for prolonged periods of time and for the majority of required tasks
- Manual Dexterity Req: Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to effectively utilize various office equipment (phone, computer, fax machine, printer, copier, filing cabinet, etc)
- Physical Effort: Minimum; typical of most office work. Mostly sedentary work.
