This position supports senior leadership within the OptumCare Care Services organization, with responsibility for both the Complex Care Management and the HouseCalls businesses.
This position facilitates forecasts and analyzes trends in workforce management, SG&A, membership, and other areas of the business. Responsibilities include working with senior leadership to create FTE and operating budgets, managing the Care Services FTE governance process, modeling of new care models for internal and external customers, and analyzing other SG&A trends to highlight areas of focus for leadership. This position will research, analyze and report to business and finance leadership on economic progressions to assist with the organization's financial planning and present findings and recommendations to management via written communications and presentations. 
 
Primary Responsibilities
  • Understand the UnitedHealth Group financial process and become an active participant in the management of its financials
  • Assist senior leadership with creation and on-going management of FTE and operational budgets
  • Partner with corporate and field-based leadership to analyze financial results and build accurate projections
  • Create financial models to inform decision making on proposed model of care changes
  • Prepare and review reports including staffing metrics for month-end close and forecasting purposes
  • Conduct monthly analytics on financial results, explain trends, and produce variance analysis for senior leaders
  • Help develop detailed forecasts using a variety of business drivers including: sales, revenue, membership, staffing, and operational expenses
  • Manage the Care Services FTE governance process and help facilitate weekly approval meetings with Care Services leadership
  • Create and automate financial models and other analytical tools to improve the company's understanding of performance and drive efficiencies in the forecasting processes
You’ll need to be able to analyze the data in order to tell the stories that need to be told. You’ll be expected to understand and incorporate industry specific metrics into reports to highlight relevant trends and support fact-based business decisions. Your recommendations will go to all levels of leadership so the spotlight is firmly on you and your financial skills.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of financial and/or accounting experience
  • Experience working collaboratively in a high growth, matrix environment
  • Prior work experience anticipating accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and operational issues, assessing their implications, and developing and implementing an appropriate action plan
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase
  • MBA or CPA
