Financial Consultant - Minnetonka, MN

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand the UnitedHealth Group financial process and become an active participant in the management of its financials

  • Analyze and report on financials and partner with senior leaders to collaboratively manage budgets

  • Assist with periodic forecast and budget creation for business leadership

  • Forecast staffing needs and partner with project managers, subject matter experts and leadership to develop workforce tools

  • Collaborate with segment finance to understand and demonstrate complex concepts in ways that lead to understanding by a variety of audiences

  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis, calculate cost impact, summarize and present to a larger audience

  • Act as finance liaison for the delivery of SG&A budget and forecast

  • Provide necessary cost analysis and support to Segments Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Tax, UHG Finance and outside consultants (such as Accenture, KPMG and Price Waters Coopers)

  • Provide finance support to Underwriting and Pricing process

  • Assist in External and Internal Benchmarking

  • Assist with identifying, analyzing and driving cost savings into the organization

  • Assist in the negotiation of affiliate expenses and create SLA agreement with intersegment organizations

  • Assist with monthly close research and analysis

  • Manage independent projects and working directly with Sr. Management throughout Finance and UHG

  • Various ad hoc analyses and reports as necessary





Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

  • 3+ years of financial and operational management experience

  • Exceptional financial acumen and P&L management skills

  • Proven experience driving business performance in a high growth environment

  • Prior work experience anticipating accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and operational issues, assessing their implications, and developing and implementing an appropriate action plan

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong ability to work collaboratively and influence across a matrix environment to drive revenue enhancement and expense management initiatives

  • Strong executive presence, communication and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders
