Title Financial Manager Risk Position Posting Location Buffalo Status Full Time Regular Hours As required Job Description The Financial Manager Risk directs and administers HealthNow New York Inc.’s Corporate Insurance programs, including Property & Casualty, Workers Comp, Professional Liability, Cyber Risk, Fiduciary & Fidelity insurance coverage. The incumbent is responsible for analyzing and evaluating the Corporations’ insurance needs in order to acquire and implement the appropriate insurance policies within budgetary constraints. The Risk Manager assists and provides consultation to other departments within the Corporation in the area of risk evaluation pertaining, but not limited to: contractual exposures, compliance issues, business interruption, safety, security and loss control programs. Primary Responsibility - Prepares and files the annual renewal applications of all corporate professional and general liability policies, assuring the secured policies are comprehensive and the rates are competitive
- Reviews policy proposals to assure compliance with premium quotes and verifies that policies provide required coverage
- Works with the HNNY Legal department and external insurance agencies in order to maintain proper liability coverage, assuring that all corporate assets are protected in an efficient manner
- Reviews Corporate Contracts through the Legal tracker as necessary to provide oversight and to assure that insurance requirements correlate to the scope of work as defined within the contract; continuously reviews corporate contracts assuring that insurance requirements are in place
- Monitors Workers’ Comp claim activity and retrospective claim and payroll audits in order to monitor premium variances from year to year
- Coordinates periodic claim review meetings with HNNY HR, broker and Worker's Compensation carrier to monitor all outstanding workers comp claims
- Keeps abreast of all health insurance risk management issues by maintaining working relationships with many local and national brokers, attending seminars and through Association Conference calls and webinars
- Keeps superiors well informed as to changes within the insurance industry or organization which may result in an increase to the Corporation’s risk exposure
- Provides management with solutions for reducing or transferring this identified risk
- Works with various HealthNow New York personnel in order to increase loss control awareness in the areas of employee safety, property protection and workers comp
- Assists the HNNY Legal department in determining coverage for various claims and litigations made against the Company as they arise
- Files property and casualty claims and works with the carrier until they are fully resolved
Knowledge and Skills - A working knowledge of corporate property & casualty, workers compensation and professional liability programs
- A general knowledge of the health insurance industry and related employee benefit structure
- Strong written, verbal and analytical skills
- Computer skills required: A general computer aptitude including proficient use of: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet
- Able to maintain strong working relationships with several levels across the organization both internally and externally
- Meets regularly with the HNNY CFO, General Counsel, Corporate Attorneys and officers of local & national insurance agencies, local insurance brokers and loss control specialists, national insurances agencies and brokers, risk managers at other Blues Plans nationwide
Experience - Minimum of 5 years experience in the Risk Management field and/or 5 years experience in the insurance industry required Education Required Education:

- Bachelors Degree In Accounting, Insurance Administration, or related area of study required

- Must be able to work in an office environment
- Must be able to occasionally attend off-site meetings, events, conferences
- Must have ability and access to work from remote location such as home
- Repetitive Motion Prolonged Sitting Walking
- Physical Effort: Minimum; typical of most office work. Mostly sedentary work
- Must be able to accommodate local travel. Valid drivers license and acceptable driving history required due to travel involved with this position (DMV check will be conducted to review candidate's driving record)
