The Medical Group of the Carolina is seeking a Genetic Counselor for their Medical Oncology Division.
The Genetic Counselor will provide genetic counseling to patients identified with predisposing characteristics and identified as being at potentially elevated risk for developing cancer in addition to providing counseling to families or individuals with regard to results of genetic testing, including arranging consultations with Medical Oncologists, screening/mental health professionals, or other specialists as required. <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Collaborates with other providers and team members in providing all aspects of required care. Assists in clinical studies as needed. Assists in the development of educational material. The counselor will also assist with community and professional education programs relating to the genetics of cancer. Will attend patient care conferences and seminars, as well as various department meetings as required.
Master of Science degree in the discipline of Genetic Counseling.
2 years experience in genetic counseling desirable
