Position Summary

Giant Eagle Leaders are honest, engaging, respectful and authentic and display a curiosity about food. Leaders are an integral part of Giant Eagle's distinct point of difference. This role is designed to inspire our Team Members and customers to discover the pleasure of food. This position is to provide leadership in the HBC department. The Lead will guide, develop, and coach Team Members. Additional responsibilities include delivering profitable growth targets.

Job Responsibilities

  • Actively support a culture of safety which includes, but is not limited to, food safety, Team Member safety and customer safety.
  • Display a commitment to learn about food and share food knowledge with fellow Team Members and customers.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn, understand, and communicate the Giant Eagle Passion for Food philosophy, which includes the willingness to taste and experience new product offerings.
  • Actively demonstrate appropriate suggestive selling techniques. Provide active selling opportunities, when appropriate.
  • Conduct business, at all times, with a clear understanding that customer service is a significant point of difference for the Giant Eagle banner. Every interaction, whether with an internal or external customer, is to be conducted with the highest degree of integrity and with an understanding that the end result is to deliver service in an unparalleled manner.

  • Provide leadership that promotes and exemplifies a Passion for Food and an understanding of the relationship between HBW, food, and their ability to impact sales growth.
  • Oversee HBW staff to maintain department and ensure department conditions remain unparalleled meeting Giant Eagle standards.
  • Manage inventories by tracking weekly reports and ordering raw materials and supplies in order to meet customer requirements and maximize profits. Assist customers with all questions concerning Health, Beauty and Wellness.
  • Order products to ensure appropriate in-stock conditions & inventory control.
  • Manage and implement all product tags including weekly tags, new items, discontinued items, special promotions, etc.
  • Work with Customer Service Co-Manager and Food Marketing Manager to develop Team Member & customer educational programs.
  • Develop creative merchandising programs and in-store promotional programs that maximize product awareness and provide an outstanding experience that delights our customers resulting in sales and profit.
  • Control department costs by monitoring and improving operations to increase profitability. Promote the continuous development of Team Members and identify candidates for Team Leader Development Process.
  • Stock shelves by taking product from backroom, opening boxes, and stocking product to proper location on shelf. Perform duties of staff as required.
  • Responsible for controlling some expense within a department. Amount of Budgetary Responsibility: \\$1 - \\$100k
  • Supervision of team members within an area or section of a department.

Education and Training Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience Required

  • Retail work experience or Store Leader recommendation

Experience Desired

  • Retail leadership or supervisory experience
  • Successful performance as a Peer Trainer or other similar role
  • Successful performance as an in-store champion (e.g., safety, service, wellness) or similar role
  • Demonstrated product knowledge relevant to department
  • Satisfactory performance and discipline record

Age Requirement
