The Sr. Implementation Manager will be responsible for leading practice implementations for UnitedHealth Group.  The candidate will contribute to best practices for designing and implementing solution according to practice requirements. This position requires a blend of project management, process knowledge, product knowledge and strong analytical, communication, documentation, and leadership skills. Successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional consulting skills and customer savviness, strong written and verbal business communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, negotiate and lead regardless of title or authority, and the ability to establish trust and credibility at all levels of an organization.  The role will be highly visible with an expectation that each practice is handled appropriately and has a good experience with a seamless implementation.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Act in a highly consultative manner - working closely with the practice leadership, internal product experts, and operations team to ensure the expectations are translated into detailed requirements and timelines
  • Drive the contractual timelines and milestones to ensure quality and on time delivery of all implementations
  • Have direct responsibility for up to 6 practice implementation configurations at a given time
  • Provide enhancements to the underlying implementation service framework with detailed repeatable processes. The service framework and processes need to be robust and end-to-end, involving all parties from networking through day-to-day operations teams
  • Project manage cross-functional teams and establish a program level work plan with visibility and cross project issue resolution for each phase of an implementation
    • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure implementations progress on schedule and satisfy customer specifications
    • Prepare detailed and accurate implementation status reports and work aggressively to resolve gaps and issues and keep the implementation on track
    • Prepare documentation related to project scope and requirements; obtain and maintain all required project setup data
    • Prepare user acceptance test plans, execute and document user acceptance testing conditions and scripts, manage development and execution of training, user documentation and implementation of new systems
  • Provide strong leadership and judgment
  • Effectively maintain and build relationships across business groups and within the practices
  • Create a team-oriented work climate enabling professional development, encouraging creative solutions and strategies, establishing collaboration and emphasizing quality and cost
  • Facilitate senior management decision making within the scope and change management process
  • Identify gaps and drive improvements within the current implementation data sets
  • Provide market insights based on implementation experience to the networking team as Renai rolls out new markets

Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in program / project management; experience working against a plan, meeting deadlines and producing deliverables relative to target dates
  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare or implementations
  • Experience managing multiple, intersecting business unit relationships
  • Experience influencing complicated courses of action when others are directly accountable for outcomes
  • Experience applying process acumen to process improvement projects, with measurable business performance improvement outcomes
  • Proficiency in workflow examination and system requirements analysis.  Some knowledge of system development lifecycles and documentation standards
  • Experience analyzing possible solutions using metrics and other business data and make informed rational business decisions
  • Experience with systems conversions and migration of customers from one platform to another
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Visio and  MS Project are assets
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Implementation experience
  • Experience as a consultant managing, defining, leading and successfully delivering engagements
