The Integrated Marketing Manager, Consumer Marketing position is responsible for setting the member communications strategy to attract and activate consumers in Optum programs in order to achieve program participation and value targets. This position will have direct involvement with defining strategy and delivering on tactics in addition to leadership oversight.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Member Marketing Strategy:
    • Develop strategy and tactical plan to achieve desired level of member engagement; identify target audience, methods for identification and outreach modalities (direct mail, email, phone, online, etc.) 
    • Manage client relationships (both internal and external) to ensure open communications and that expectations are clearly defined and managed
    • Define standard member marketing materials and touchpoints for the assigned product area(s)
    • Determine timing and frequency for engagement
    • Develop and pilot new consumer engagement approaches
    • Monitor results and modify strategy accordingly
    • Coordinate consumer research required to gain member insight and test materials and positioning
    • Translate consumer positioning and provide copy and design direction for creative staff
    • Develop and serve as ongoing owner of communication materials used to drive program enrollment and behavior change post enrollment
  • Execution:
    • Lead efforts to set - up, audit and enhance member communication content and materials across modalities (print, email, web)
    • Manage all material reviews, requirements and approval processes across Optum and UHC (as appropriate); clearly articulating member and program requirements and the marketing approach, as well as working  with partners to resolve conflicting feedback
    • Provide requirements for campaign execution and analysis
    • Work with Project Manager and Fulfillment Services to ensure the Fulfillment Ordering System is updated and accurate
    • Ensure process adherence for campaign planning and execution
    • Review requests for incremental funding and secure approval / denial from business owner

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing or Communications
  • 6+ years of Consumer Marketing experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading Marketing campaigns or projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the healthcare industry
  • Cross - functional project management experience
  • Ability to execute strategic marketing plans with strong attention to detail
  • Works independently with minimal direction
  • Ability to build and maintain strong internal relationships with various cross functional areas
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize deliverables
  • Strong project management skills and ability to create and manage project plans and project teams to ensure projects are on schedule and within the designated budget
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Consistently demonstrates proactive problem - solving ability and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to work cross - organizationally to achieve goals
  • Results - driven; demonstrated willingness to challenge the status - quo
  • Comfortable and adept at working in large organizations with matrixed organizational structures
  • Proven organizational skills with ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
