International Food Safety and Supplier Quality Manager

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The International Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager is responsible to provide food safety oversight of international food and beverage suppliers and distribution centers by developing, maintaining, implementing and managing a risk-based food safety approval program. Other responsibilities include assess processing capabilities of international supplier partners, develop country/region specific products to match US brand standard products as closely as possible given differences in raw materials, regulatory/cultural religious environment, and product economies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Partner with Culinary on innovation initiatives by commercializing international test and LTO products. Provide technical expertise to internal and supply partners during production scale up and rollout.
  2. Develop product specifications for each new product/LTO on a country/market specific basis as required to meet regulatory and cultural religious requirements. Assist International Operations during testing and implementation.
  3. Facilitate product cuttings with cross functional team to ensure compliance to specifications. Validate new products meet specified international guidelines and marketing briefs.
  4. Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive food supplier and distributor facility review, approval tracking and monitoring program.
  5. Develop, implement and continually improve product-specific risk-based food safety requirements for international food and beverage suppliers.
  6. Manage the review and approval of international food and beverage suppliers and distributors food safety programs, third party audits, and documentation.
  7. Provide food safety education and guidance to internal and franchisee stakeholders to assist in making educated decisions when working with new and existing suppliers.
  8. Establish, implement and maintain an international supplier third party audit program.
  9. Maintain current and accurate records of all relevant communications, audits, inspections, corrective action plans and effectiveness monitoring for all approved and potential suppliers.
  10. Assist with developing controls for identified hazards based on science and risk-based principles for identified products.
  11. Perform risk analysis on new food items to determine inherent product risk.
  12. Recall execution for company directed food suppliers.
  13. Assist with monitoring of regulatory trends that may impact suppliers; communicate with suppliers as needed to track compliance.
  14. Participate in restaurant emergency contact hotline response night and weekend rotation.
  15. Perform other related duties, tasks, and projects as assigned including Supplier approval for additional brands as needed

 

 

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Environmental Health, Meat Science Food Science, Microbiology, Biology or related field

 

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION:

  • Minimum of six years of food safety industry experience
  • Bilingual (preferred)
  • 2+ years of work experience in International food safety

 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES:

  • Multiyear experience in managing effectively the above listed areas of responsibility
  • In-depth understanding of produce and meat food safety
  • A strong understanding of food manufacturing for multiple product categories with in-depth understanding of food safety, HACCP, and GMP programs
  • A strong ability to match & commercialize products to existing brand standards
  • Strong understanding of Federal food safety regulations
  • In-depth understanding of Global Food Safety Initiative Audit Schemes
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and analysis on products and vendors
  • People and results oriented

  • Deep analytical skills

DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:

  • The International Food Safety and Supplier Quality Manager is limited on the spend authorities as established by corporate governance.
  • Authority to implement against all agreed upon and approved supply change strategy as directed
  • Authority to implement process improvements in contracting once approved
