General Overview:

This position will be part of a small team within Inventory Strategy working on a high visibility project to roll out a new store concept within the Bed Bath & Beyond family of brands. Develop and manage SKU/Store buy plans and demand forecasts in support of merchandising strategies. Partner with merchandising in developing item/program/category strategies to support roll out of new store concept.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build SKU/store buy plans for owned inventory and manage demand forecasts across a small but growing store base for a limited set of SKUs
  • Monitor daily or weekly store/SKU selling and adjust forecasts as needed
  • Exception manage demand forecast to support promotions and markdowns
  • Partner with Analyst to ensure alignment on allocation and replenishment strategies including appropriate presentation minimums/maxes and WOS parameters
  • Partner with Merchant on appropriate quantities based on expected store volume and physical capacity
  • Execute PO orders and track POs to ensure DC receipts arrive in time for in-store merchandising dates
  • Validate system set-up of new stores and open dates with cross-functional partners and communicate to IT
  • Validate correct SKU set-up between concepts
  • Partner with Merchandising on markdown strategies across each store
  • Communicate status updates to cross-concept team to ensure alignment on strategies and execution
  • Manage order flow quantities to support sales, inventory, margin, DC space plans, and turn
  • Responsible for forecast accuracy
  • Communicate assortment plan with Inventory Management Analyst to achieve appropriate distribution strategies across a small but growing store base
  • Direct Inventory Management Analyst to allocate appropriately to support demand forecasts and exist strategies
  • Develop profitable entrance and exit strategies with merchandising for new, seasonal and replacement programs
  • Develop and manage PO (projection, validity, timely entering into system based on lead times, balance to shops, guidelines, and advertised goods) generation, maintenance, chargebacks, and vendor communication
  • Be an integral partner with Merchandising, Distribution Centers, Cross-Concept partners.

Job Requirements:

  • BS or BA degree required
  • Minimum 3-5 years Retail/Catalog/Internet Planning and Distribution experience
  • Experience with a statistical forecasting and allocation tool a plus (I2, JDA)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with ability to deal with ambiguity and complexities
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products including advanced level Excel
  • Excellent ability in organization, communication, and presentation skills to influence others
