The core mission of Optum Connect is to provide end-to-end Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) and core administrative Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services to the commercial market. Optum Connect solutions incorporate products, capabilities, services, and other offerings from across Optum into end-to-end solutions that differentiate from commodity competitors by connecting the breadth of Optum assets into transformative solutions.

 

As an IT Project Consultant, you will have responsibility for large client facing ITaaS (IT as a Service) Program Implementation initiatives.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Position will partner with Program Delivery Leadership, Product Management, Optum Internal teams, as well as 3rd Party Solution and Service Providers
  • Integrate information technologies into the company for optimal effectiveness
  • Understand current and future business goals and ongoing IT issues to ensure business success
  • Participate in recruitment, orientation and ongoing training of new IT staff
  • Indirect oversight of project resources
  • Managing projects around systems and data architecture
  • Responsible for oversite of multiple infrastructure or application development projects of varying size and scope. These will be capital projects involved in updating and consolidating functionality in various systems related to provider demographics
  • Heavily involved with setting up recurring status meetings with the business, fielding questions from the business, as well as handling issues that arise from the business
  • Anticipating issues and acting proactively to address potential issues
  • Gathering and updating project materials, completing budgeting, forecasting, project documentation, business flows, and lessons learned documents
  • Speaking to details of the project to both the business and technical teams from beginning to end of all projects
  • Obtaining maximum value from Information Technology project management services
  • Utilizing organizational resources appropriately
  • Management of key projects to ensure successful completion
  • Managing cross-functional interdependencies
  • Improving processes to optimize performance and value over time
  • Providing risk management and issue/problem resolution as required

Required Qualification:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of IT Project Management experience
  • 3+ years of working hands-on with all aspects of project management in the System Development Life Cycle
  • 3+ years of data gathering / analysis
  • 3+ experience writing system requirements
  • Experience working with test plans and test cases
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Proficiency with MS Project
  • Proficiency with MS Visio
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Experience facilitating Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions
  • Healthcare industry experience
