Position Summary:

 

Avella Specialty Pharmacy has more than 450 employees in 11 locations throughout the country, and we’re continuing to grow very rapidly; which creates numerous security vulnerabilities, incidents and challenges. As result, we’re looking for a naturally talented problem solver, which can anticipate problems, just as quickly, efficiently and effectively analyze, diagnose and resolve problems. We’re looking for someone that is naturally curious about security vulnerabilities and how to mitigate them. This position requires someone that energetically focuses their efforts on meeting an objective or mission, while utilizing logical, systematic and orderly procedures to do so. And it’s critical that our Security Engineer works effortlessly, effectively and productively with team members, inside and outside our organization, to help ensure our collective success.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support Tier 1 Technicians with security related trouble tickets

  • Collaborate with teams (internal/external) on all endpoint security configurations, on all security related incidents, breach containment, disaster recovery, and penetration testing

  • Triage and manage security related Help Desk Tickets

  • Constantly monitor for security and log vulnerabilities (IDS, IPS, Antivirus etc.)

  • Research, understand and document security hardening standards and regulations(HIPAA/PCI)

  • Develop and document security incident response procedures, and document security knowledge base articles

  • Document Firewall reviews

  • Participate in internal and external audits

  • Minimum 3-5 years Windows and Linux system administration experience is required

Knowledge Skill and Abilities:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with Windows and Linux system administration is required

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience is also required in at least one of the following information security domains is required: UNIX, C, HTML, PERL and CGI programming languages.

  • Vulnerability scanning of systems and tools

  • Network-based Intrusion Detection / Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)

  • Host-based Intrusion Detection / Prevention Systems (HIDS/HIPS)

  • File integrity verification and monitoring software

  • Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) platform, log Indexing and Correlation platform

  • Anti-virus and anti-spyware console

  • Firewall and network access controls lists

  • Web and E-mail proxy and filtering systems

  • Provide reoccurring reports for network and host-based security solutions

  • Provide incident response support as needed in response to information security related events

  • Participate in DR / BCP exercises and continuous improvement processes

  • Maintain and update relevant system and process documentation and develop ad-hoc reports as needed

  • Ability to maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and investigate security-related, information systems’ anomalies based on security platform reporting, network traffic, log files, host-based and automated security alerts

  • Assist the development of security tool requirements, trials, and evaluations, as well as security operations procedures and processes

  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with all team members

  • Provide off-hours support on an infrequent, but as needed basis

  • Successfully manage time and technical responsibilities, set accurate expectations and meet deliverable deadlines while working in a team and information sharing environment

  • Must possess the ability to meet deadlines and manage time in an efficient manner

  • Must be able to effectively manage a number of projects and priorities in parallel

  • Working knowledge of PCI and HIPAA / HITECH

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of troubleshooting logic and techniques

  • Strong aptitude in OS repairs, spyware and virus removal, hardware, upgrades and troubleshooting

  • Must maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to read computer instruction manuals and comprehend directions in order to remedy minor computer equipment and application malfunctions


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or experience equivalent to the completion of a four-year degree  

  • Knowledge of computer logic in order to perform task listed under essential duties and responsibilities

  • Knowledge of methodology to run computer systems and to troubleshoot minor computer equipment and application malfunctions

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to train others in computer systems

  • Ability to communicate problems with supervisors as they become known

  • Meet deadlines and configured Service Level Agreements

  • Provide customer with outstanding customer care and service at all times

  • Additional or different functions may be assigned from time to time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A+ Certification and / or Network +

  • CISSP Certification or Strong CISSP Knowledge

  • ITIL Foundation Experience

  • Knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures within a help desk environment desirable

  • Experience with ITIL Framework
