LOGISTICS SUPERVISOR JOB DESCRIPTION (NON-EXEMPT)
The Logistics Supervisor is a non-exempt position that acts in a leadership role within the store and is responsible for assisting the General Manager and Lead Supervisor in the daily operations of the store. The Logistics Supervisor’s primary responsibilities include executing the daily priorities established by the General Manager, leading the store staff in the absence of the General Manager or Lead Supervisor and being responsible for the logistics and visual set processes; as well as any assigned areas and departments within the store.

LOGISTICS SUPERVISOR JOB DESCRIPTION (NON-EXEMPT)

The Logistics Supervisor is a non-exempt position that acts in a leadership role within the store and is responsible for assisting the General Manager and Lead Supervisor in the daily operations of the store.  The Logistics Supervisor’s primary responsibilities include executing the daily priorities established by the General Manager, leading the store staff in the absence of the General Manager or Lead Supervisor and being responsible for the logistics and visual set processes; as well as any assigned areas and departments within the store.

THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LOGISTICS SUPERVISOR INCLUDE:

Logistics:

  • Demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and integrity with the stock team as he/she is generally the only leadership team member within the building on the majority of the stock shifts.
  • Directing and ensuring execution of the logistics process as well as visual sets and the standards of specific departments within the store as assigned by the General Manager.
  • Planning and preparing for the weekly freight flow as well as the execution and maintenance of the company schematics and visual sets to ensure the flow and placement of seasonal merchandise.
  • Training associates on merchandising standards, visual direction, schematics execution, pricing standards, execution efficiencies, productivity and safety.
  • Executing the Trailer Check-In (TCI) Procedures and ensuring mis-picks, non-ships and damaged merchandise are identified, processed or marked out of stock in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintaining the stockroom organization standards according to the expectations of the company.
  • Planning and leading the execution of a downstock program for the store.

Safety:

  • Ensuring that all stock associates are trained on and following company loss prevention and safety policy and procedures.
  • Ensuring all equipment is working properly and is maintained as well as ensuring the utilization of company-approved tools and equipment.
  • Must be OSHA certified on all company equipment including Big Joe, Pallet Jack, Safety Cage and Baler/Compactor.
  • Alerting the General Manager of any problems or suspicious behavior as it pertains to personnel and/or the operation (i.e., alarms, exit doors, equipment failure, uncharacteristic behavior by an associate, merchandise in the bathrooms, trucking issues).

Operations:

  • Ensuring the successful opening of the store through posting the store break schedule, conducting a daily 15 minute meeting and communicating the priorities of the day and preparing the registers for business.
  • Ensuring the proper closing of the store through delegating the responsibilities to the closing team, following up to ensure the tasks were completed adequately, accurately finalizing the accounting (ESA) process, ensuring the team punches out and leaves safely, and arming the store’s security system.
  • Assisting in the training and development of associates including product knowledge, customer service standards, register procedures, and stocking standards. 

Store Standards:

  • Maintaining visual standards and schematics in assigned departments.
  • Ensuring pricing and signing is accurate and visible in assigned departments.
  • Walking the store at the beginning of each shift to ensure merchandising standards are met throughout the store.
  • Assisting in the execution of promotional guidelines, shop sets, advertised sets, and schematics throughout his/her areas of responsibility.
  • Assisting in the training and development of sales associates including product knowledge, customer service standards, register procedures and stocking standards.

Customer Service:

  • Managing speed and service at the front end during peak selling hours.
  • Role-modeling and coaching store staff on customer service skills and engagement behaviors.
  • Driving customer service program results through awareness and training of the store staff.
  • Providing a consistent level of customer service, and driving sales by maintaining stock levels and sharing knowledge of core products, new merchandise and marketing events.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent supervisory skills including: A strong sense of urgency, excellent customer service skills, good attention to detail, creative problem solving skills, excellent delegation and follow up skills, ability to lead the team to execute the priorities you lay out, to be a good role model and to consistently exhibit the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including a majority of early morning or overnight shifts.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of supervisory experience in a retail or similar environment.
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, customer service industry is preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
