Manager, Pharmacy Quality - Jeffersonville, IN, Las Vegas, NV, Carlsbad, CA or Overland Park, KS

As the Manager of QCA, Enterprise Defect Standardization, you will be responsible for developing, managing enterprise defect standardization, and defect improvement across all OptumRx pharmacy locations. This includes creating a network of support across all lines of business, developing the definition of defect and creating one global listing of defects, identifying areas of opportunity and improvement across the locations, managing and onboarding of new locations into the quality reporting tool, updating quality tools to support growing needs of business, and implementing Best Practices across all pharmacy entities.

 

This role will support needs to comply with the DEA, State and Regulatory, Accreditations, and Safety while supporting compliance, legal, and privacy departments. The employee in this role will help foster relationships across all OptumRx pharmacies and Quality teams, ensure that the quality defect capturing tool and ensuing action planning for locations is scalable. 

 

Coaching and mentoring of direct reports will be required on a regular basis.  Including coaching to success on annual goals, and ensuring direct reports are maintaining high quality, high performing teams. This will also involve providing personnel development to ensure careers in the organization flourish.  Communication of goals for employees that are aligned with Companywide initiatives and will be performed in support of the site, business unit, and corporate quality objectives

 

Schedule will be Monday - Friday with standard business hours. Candidates can be considered for other locations.

  

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Defect definition and management and oversite of Quality Control data for a network of all OptumRx pharmacy dispensing and support sites including BriovaRx Specialty (Regional and National), BriovaRx Infusion, Client Facing (On-Site) pharmacy, OptumRx Home Delivery Pharmacy, Pharmacy support sites, Integrated sites, Compounding, and future locations

  • Creation of one universal Quality tracking tool for all OptumRx dispensing and support sites that comply with State & Federal regulations, Accreditation, Compliance, and Operational requirements

  • Ongoing collaboration with various site, quality, regulatory, legal, and compliance leaders ensuring quality metric needs are met in a timely manner

  • Ensure day to day Quality review and Quality Control are completed in compliance with daily/weekly/monthly goals

  • Communicate to leaders the Quality metrics with action plans on a consistent basis, showing agreed upon quality targets, opportunities for improvement, and continually updating to meet the needs of the growing business units

  • Manages professionals within Quality Control. Hires, coaches, and develops employees within the Quality Control management team and ensures their continued career progression through advocacy and provision of learning opportunities. Provides feedback and coaching, provides opportunities for growth and takes necessary disciplinary actions for his/her direct reports. Continues to assess the organization and best utilizes resources

  • Reviews departmental documentation (e.g., Standard Operating Procedures). Participates in revisions, providing input, as necessary. Participates in State, Federal, and other Regulatory Authority Inspections and Customer Audits as needed for policy, and procedure, and as an SME

  • Manage and operate effectively in a highly-matrixed organization while fully supporting cross -functional initiatives in the area of quality


Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in related/relevant field

  • At least 5+ years of quality experience

  • At least 5+ years of managing a team of 5 or more individuals

  • At least 5+ years of developing executive level metrics and presentation preparation skills

  • At least 6+ years of experience in Quality Control of biopharmaceuticals and/or pharmacy, manufacturing, medical device, and or aerospace product

  • Knowledge with processes involved in manufacturing and distribution: QA, QC, validation, and process development

  • Customer-first mindset with the drive to understand internal and external customer expectations and requirements

  • Capability to assimilate information and influence timely decisions that impact the functional areas

  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Outlook

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Quality Certifications Desirable

  • Experience implementing various quality standards (ISO, cGMP, etc.)

  • Compounding quality experience

  • Certified Auditor
