Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The Market & Counterparty Risk Management group is seeking a Market Risk Cons with strong technical skills related to the development, maintenance and analysis of financial product time series data in support of Wells Fargo Securities.

In particular, this role works with the Market Risk, desk level, oversight officers and includes responsibility for the product data required by oversight officers. The position will work very closely with the Risk IT team to deliver the required support through daily processing and automation enhancements. In addition to support for desk level oversight officers the position provides assistance to our Analytics and Model Validation teams in their review of applicable time series for existing and new products and their risk factors.

Additional work will be required in support of new regulatory standards related to capital and stress scenarios. This role will assist in ad-hoc analysis of time series data to examine the suitability for the various risk and front office models. Among other things, the candidate’s primary role will be research, analysis, and reporting of Structured Products, Commodities, FX, Interest Rate and Equity time series data used in the calculation of Value at Risk, CCAR and regulatory/management reporting.

Additional requirements/responsibilities for this position will include the use of database and statistical analysis tools to innovate and streamline existing processes. A background with SQL and VBA is desired. He/She will also need to be highly analytical with a strong knowledge of financial mathematics. The candidate should possess strong written and oral communication skills as well as interpersonal relationship building skills. It is essential that the candidate work independently with initiative in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

Analyses must be thoughtful, timely and accurate as the information is used to brief senior management at regular intervals. A strong desire to learn, troubleshoot problems, and improve/automate complex processes is key.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of capital markets experience, desk analyst experience, or a combination of both

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of VB (Visual Basic)
  • 2+ years of SQL experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of trading, structuring, or front office market risk management
  • Familiarity with Global Rates, Foreign exchange and Commodities product line or combination thereof
  • Knowledge and understanding of time series analysis of various cash and derivative financial products
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of Value-at-Risk (VaR), Greek Sensitivities and Stress
  • Experience using programing languages such as MATLAB, R Studio or Python to analyze large data sets
  • Proven ability to quickly and effectively innovate job processes using scripting and analytics tool packages
  • Experience working independently, and in a team, is critical, as well as working in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
  • A Master's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics is highly preferred
